    Our client, a large non-profit in DC is looking for a detail-oriented Costing Accountant to join their growing. This role involves preparing essential financial reports, managing cost reporting processes, and collaborating with various departments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and a proven track record in financial reporting within the healthcare sector.

    Responsibilities:

    • Prepare and submit interim and final cost reports for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.

    • Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with other departments, aligning with organizational goals and federal guidelines.

    • Stay informed on updates to cost reporting regulations, attending training sessions as needed to maintain compliance.

    • Assist in the annual audit of cost reports, working closely with internal teams and external auditors.

    • Maintain and regularly update the cost reporting process manual to reflect current practices and regulations.

    • Coordinate and communicate with senior officials, regulatory agencies, and external counsel on financial and accounting matters.

    • Generate weekly claims invoices and monthly administrative expense invoices for companies with participation agreements.

    • Perform ongoing reconciliations of expense and rebate accounts for participating companies, addressing discrepancies as needed.

    • Provide timely updates to senior management on financial activities and follow up on outstanding issues.

    • Fulfill other accounting and financial duties as assigned, ensuring organizational needs are met.

     

    The ideal candidate for this Costing Accountant role will have a BS in Accounting, 3+ years of general ledger, costing, public accounting or compliance experience and someone who is very detail oriented/organized and can coordinate and keep track of tons of details. This role is 3 days/week in the office in DC and the comp range is 80-106K plus bonus and benefits.     Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.

     

    • At least 3 years of accounting experience, preferably with exposure to healthcare cost reporting.

    • Solid knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and auditing standards.

    • Familiarity with financial reporting practices, federal tax regulations, and employee benefit reporting requirements.

    • Experience with account reconciliation, journal entries, and month-end close processes.

    • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage complex problems with minimal supervision.

    • General understanding of health and retirement benefits.

    • Proficiency in preparing cost reports for Medicare and Medicaid is highly desirable.
