Job Summary
Setup Mechanic III (1st Shift) performs preventative maintenance, sets up and repairs various complex fabricating machines and equipment. Trains and mentors’ entry and/or intermediate-level teammates. The position requires proficiency in machine operation, troubleshooting, and ensuring equipment runs efficiently. The Setup Mechanic III works to maintain safety standards, support production goals, and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the manufacturing team.
Job Duties
+ Sets up and repairs machinery and equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications.
+ Trains co-workers as assigned by the Manager.
+ Utilizes hand and power tools to repair or replace defective parts, materials, or equipment.
+ Mounts, aligns, and bolts fixtures, dies, and welding heads onto fabricating machines.
+ Performs startup and shutdown of equipment.
+ Adjusts and sets controls to ensure proper machine operation and timing.
+ Runs sample products and examines samples for possible production defects. Makes appropriate adjustments necessary to meet requirements.
+ Coordinates and performs preventative maintenance as scheduled. Completes maintenance of complex equipment. May assist with preventative maintenance delegation and development.
+ Initiates purchase requests for parts and repairs.
+ Partners with technicians and/or Engineering in observing mechanical devices in operation to troubleshoot complex issues. Dismantles, examines, and inspects all machines and parts for repair purposes.
+ Will occasionally load heavy materials onto the machine.
+ Trains Mechanic(s) in minor adjustments, repairs, and operations.
+ Assists and monitors new research and development on the production floor.
+ Assists the Manager in monitoring teams' work to ensure production support, documentation accuracy, and quality of work.
+ Moves, assembles, installs, or dismantles machinery.
+ Assist, plan, and coordinate for new equipment, mapping out space and assembling accordingly.
+ Demonstrates Company core values of honesty, integrity, and respect.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Impact
+ May coordinate set-up and daily monitoring of manufacturing machines and equipment to ensure continuous production.
+ Communicates with the Manager to gain approval/escalate necessary changes for plant maintenance.
+ May coordinate or implement changes as discussed with the Manager.

+ Alerting supervisors to any safety hazards they discover.
+ Wearing appropriate, proper protective equipment whenever required.
+ Using guards on tools and machinery whenever required.
+ Following proper lifting techniques using legs and not the back.
+ Operating any vehicles, equipment, tools, or machines only if they are authorized.
+ Reporting any injury or loss immediately to the Supervisor/Team Lead.
+ Promoting a positive attitude about safety and never performing any unsafe practice that could endanger the employee or others.
+ Providing information to their immediate supervisor if a better and safer procedure can be implemented in performing any operation.

+ Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Skills/Technical Skills
+ Proficiency in and ability to train: Automation, Calibration, Equipment Maintenance, Failure Analysis, Machine Operation, Manufacturing Support, Numerical Control, Production Support, Refurbishment, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Human Machine Interface (HMI), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Robotics, RF Welding, Injection Molding and Fabrication.
+ Computer skills necessary; Microsoft Office (excel, word), Lotus Notes (email, calendar, and various databases including the system maintenance program), and operations software including but not limited to Syteline ERP.
Knowledge
+ High-level tool, electrical, and safety knowledge.
+ Pneumatic and Hydraulic knowledge required.
+ Understands regulated type industries.
+ Knowledge of medical device manufacturers and supplies.
+ World-class manufacturing knowledge.
Physical Requirements
+ While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs using good posture and lifting techniques, if object is at an awkward angle or height, a 2-person lift or assist device should be used. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
+ A Fitness for Duty Examination may be required upon return from a medical leave of absence or when otherwise job-related and consistent with business necessity.
Experience
+ 5+ years related experience.
Education
+ Minimum of a High School Diploma, General Education Degree (GED), or its non-US secondary education equivalent.
+ Associate Degree or 2-year Certificate from an accredited college or technical school preferred.
