    Summary of Role:

    GlobalFoundries is a leading full-service semiconductor foundry with a global manufacturing footprint spanning three continents. GlobalFoundries' Power Product Line Research and Development Organization is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Power GaN Technology Development Device Leader.

     

    The Device Leader is expected to bring deep theoretical knowledge and extensive experience in device physics to bear on the challenge of providing customers with competitive device performance advantages at attractive costs. The Device Leader will be responsible for working with marketing and customer representatives and device team members to set device goals and specifications. This leader will work with the technology development team in setting device development strategy and driving execution of device development activities. The device leader will guide one or more teams of device and TCAD engineers as well as help coordinate selected critical activities across the supporting functional teams (such as process development, process integration, characterization, and modeling) as needed to accomplish the program goals. The Device Leader may also be assigned to directly manage other device engineers as a Device Manager, as appropriate.

     

    The goal of the Device Leader is to accomplish a production ready device architecture that meets the performance, cost, manufacturability, yield, reliability, and quality goals. The resulting device(s) should be the foundation of a valuable, differentiated, and competitive customer solution. The Device Leader can expect to have the support and cooperation of the various members of the technology development, reliability, quality, characterization, manufacturing and business teams.

     

    Successful applicants will become members of an amazing local center of excellence in technology development and manufacturing engineering responsible for several technology types in an enjoyable locale. They will also be a part of a global GF technology development community driving innovation across dozens of technology platforms utilizing an international manufacturing base.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    1) Establishing target device specifications and creating a device development plan.

     

    2) Leading and/or managing one or more team(s) of device engineers. Clearly communicating goals and next steps. Motivating and mentoring individual device engineers.

     

    3) Ensuring that the extended team has a clear and straightforward view of the device development status, risks, and key next steps.

     

    4) Driving execution to a competitive schedule. Discovering problems, gaps, or risks in the device status or development plan and working across organizations as needed to address.

     

    5) Working directly with the customer as needed to ensure that the team is on a path to exceeding the customer’s expectations.

    Other Responsibilities:

    Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.Required Qualifications:

     

    + Education: Master's or Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, solid state physics, or other relevant engineering or physical science discipline.

    + Years of Experience: 10+ years in industry role in semiconductor devices characterization and development along with the development of the associated manufacturing process flows.

    + Demonstrated technical team leadership and program ownership, advancing the state of the art and innovation in patents and/or novel approaches.

    + Fluency in English Language – written & verbal.

    + Ability to relocate to work in Essex Junction, VT (this is not a remote position). Must be able to work in the United States. Must be able to handle export-controlled technology.

    Additional Preferred Qualifications:

    + PhD in Electrical Engineering and/or Solid-State Physics.

    + Experience in circuit design, circuit simulation, layout and ground rules, materials science, device characterization and diagnostics, device and process simulation, device physical analysis and failure analysis.

    + Significant experience in GaN material systems or other Wide Bandgap Semiconductor development for power semiconductor applications.

    + Excellent interpersonal skills, energetic, motivated, and self-driven.

    + Demonstrated ability to work well within a global matrixed team or environment with minimal supervision.

    + Outstanding communication skills - both written and verbal.

    + Demonstrated ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization and experience in working with external constituencies.

    + Strong organizational skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and able to react to shifting priorities to meet business needs.

    + Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and commitments.

     

    Expected Salary Range

     

    $131,900.00 - $241,500.00

     

    The exact Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and location.
