    **Location:** 3219 N Clark St, Chicago, IL 60657

    **VCA Blum Animal Hospital** is expanding its Patient Care Team and seeking a full-time **Certified Veterinary Technician** !

    **Schedule:** Full-time with rotating Saturdays.

    **Compensation:** $22 - $25 / hr. Pay range and is determined by skill set and years of experience in the field.

    Job Responsibilities** **_(including but not limited to):_

    + Perform laboratory work in cooperation with the veterinary team

    + Effectively perform sample collections such as venipuncture, cystocentesis, fecal collection, ear cytology, etc.

    + Place IV catheters, administer vaccines, administer medications via oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous routes

    + Prepare blood, urine, tissue, and other specimen samples for outside laboratory analysis

    + Work in conjunction with all technical staff across the hospital to ensure hospitalized patients are receiving the best possible care and communicating frequently with the team

    + Use and maintain laboratory equipment, including the Idexx ProCyte and Catalyst hematology machines, the SediVue urinalysis machine, and SNAP Pro

    + Use digital radiography machine

    + Properly annotate medical records

    + Provide client education including post-surgical discharge instructions, answering client questions during technician appointments, and phone call consultations

    + Triage emergency situations

    + Surgical preparation and monitoring, including calculation and administration of anesthetic drugs

    + Perform dental prophylaxis and dental radiographs under the supervision of a veterinarian

    Qualifications:

    + Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or eligible to transfer state license (LVT, RVT, LVMT) or eligible to sit for the VTNE within 3 months.
