Key Roles & Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Standard Duties:

+ Request and file all paperwork (BOL, commercial and customs invoice) from all overseas suppliers to maintain proper records for duties paid.

+ Conduct audit to all paperwork provided by the supplier to make sure it is complying with customs regulations.

+ Support submission of all duties paid to our customer to recover duties paid under tariff codes.

+ Auditing entry summaries from Customs Brokers for accuracy and compliance

+ Verify the accuracy of declaration forms, invoices, and other customs-related documents

+ Identify any discrepancies and take corrective measures

+ Motivation to learn and understand to Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations and HTSUS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the US) codes

+ Prepare detailed accurate reports on audit findings.

+ Advise on customs procedures and duty exemptions.

+ Interfacing with related functional areas (logistics, purchasing, materials management, etc.) on customs matters

+ Maintain a positive relationship with our broker, vendors, customers and all groups related to these activities.

+ Provide a monthly report to management of duties paid and received.

+ Travel is occasionally required, up to 5% of the time.

Key Competencies

Problem Solving Accuracy in Execution Priority Setting Drive for Results Conflict Management

Education & Experience

+ High School diploma/GED or basic skills assessment required. Associates degree preferred.

+ 2+ year’s experience in a logistics and customs environment required

+ 2+ year’s experience in a manufacturing environment preferred

+ Advanced level Microsoft Office suite required;

+ Intermediate level SAP preferred.
