    Job Title: Paint Shop Manager

    *MUST HAVE COATING EXPERIENCE ON RAILCAR'S, TANK CARS, HOPPER CARS*

    Job Description

    The Paint Shop Manager oversees all operations within the paint department of a railcar repair facility, ensuring that all coating and finishing processes meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards. This role is responsible for managing a team of industrial painters and technicians, maintaining equipment, and coordinating with other departments to meet production schedules and customer specifications.

    Responsibilities

    + Supervise daily operations of the paint booth, including surface preparation, priming, and final coating of railcars.

    + Ensure compliance with AAR (Association of American Railroads) standards, environmental regulations, and internal safety protocols.

    + Schedule and assign work to painters and support staff, ensuring optimal use of labor and materials.

    + Inspect completed work for quality, consistency, and adherence to specifications.

    + Maintain and troubleshoot paint booth equipment, including spray systems, ventilation, and curing systems.

    + Oversee inventory of paints, solvents, PPE, and other supplies; coordinate with procurement as needed.

    + Train and mentor team members on proper painting techniques, safety procedures, and equipment use.

    + Collaborate with quality assurance, maintenance, and production teams to meet delivery timelines and resolve issues.

    + Maintain accurate records of work orders, inspections, and compliance documentation.

    Essential Skills

    + Expertise in painting and industrial painting techniques.

    + Strong supervisory skills.

    + Proficiency with spray guns and paint booth operations.

    + Experience in paint preparation, fabrication, sandblasting, epoxy, coating, and spray painting.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Knowledge of industrial painting standards.

    + Ability to mentor and train team members effectively.

    + Capability to troubleshoot equipment and resolve technical issues.
