Sarasota County is currently recruiting for a Compliance Maintenance Specialist II for our Neighborhood Parks Division. This role is responsible for leading small to large projects involving one or more crew(s) and monitoring contractor services. Typical duties can include scheduling, coordinating, reviewing, inspecting, and approving the work of others and/or contracts. This position will also assist in keeping our parks, outdoor restrooms, and facilities clean, safe, and accessible. The end goal is to ensure private and public projects comply with federal, state, and local regulations, statutes, and County ordinances.

    In this role, you will be responsible for...

     

    + Participate in the preparation of contractual maintenance contracts for Recreation and Neighborhood Parks.

    + Respond to customer inquiries and complaints and record results. Investigate problems and schedule work as needed.

    + Keep daily time and materials records; note unusual instances and/or dangerous situations and follow up with corrective action.

    + Prepare/maintain work logs and inspection reports for parks.

    + Perform routine janitorial services in our parks and facilities as needed.

    + Assist with reviewing/approving contractor payment requests.

    + Inspects park sites and plans.

    + Inspect and issue notices of code and regulation violations and contract non-conformance.

    + Inspects parks for compliance with regard to agreements and ensures that all areas are maintained to Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources standard level of operations.

    + Asset inventory at parks as needed.

    + Prepare records and reports.

    + Effectively communicate in writing. Utilize computerized programs for communication, scheduling, time management, financial tracking, and work orders.

    + Support for recreation facilities, programs, and events as needed.

    Work Hours:

    + Full-time, 40 hours per week.

    + Normal Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

    + Schedules can vary due to split shifts, rotations, emergencies, etc.

    + Evenings, holidays, and/or weekend hours may occasionally be required.

     

    About You

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + High School Diploma or its equivalent.

    + Three (3) years or more of experience in construction/landscape maintenance, contract-applicable construction trades, or in a field providing technical supervisory services to construction/landscape maintenance contractors.

    + Valid Florida Driver's License by date of hire.

     

    Physical Demands: M ay occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.

     

    Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for five (5) years.

    Starting Pay Range: $21.85/hr
