    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Refining Value Chain Optimization group at the Garyville Refinery is seeking candidates for an opening in the RVCO Economics and Planning Group. The RVCO E&P Team is responsible for optimizing refinery operations, developing short- and long-range production forecasts, feedstock scheduling, product production and scheduling, project analysis, and intermediate inventory management. All members of the team are expected to be actively engaged in ensuring all products meet specifications. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to interact with and influence many areas of the company. The group works closely with Operations and Technical Services to understand unit constraints and communicate the economic drivers of each of the operating areas. The team also works directly with Global Feedstock and Clean Product Value Chains, RVCO Findlay/SATX, and Product Quality to evaluate opportunities on feedstocks, products, and inter-refinery transfers.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The candidate will initially be trained to use the refinery linear program (PIMS) and APS. After mastering the linear program the individual is expected to serve as the short-term forecaster. Responsibilities of the position include:

     

    + Review unit and tank farm constraints, market prices, product demands, and feedstock availability as a part of the forecast process . Support as needed development of the one to two month forecast on a weekly basis.

    + Develops optimized and executable production plans for a single refinery using linear programming simulation models. Modifies production plans as needed to adjust to demand/margin changes. Identifies constraints associated with refinery modeling, uses provided input to develop refinery plans.

    + Work with Tech Service and Operations to identify and optimize around unit constraints . Work with technical and operation teams to optimize around the daily unit target sheet . Ensure target sheet includes all important value drivers. Update target sheet incentives ($/BBL, $/°F, etc.)

    + Coordinates the commercial aspects of refinery operations, including feedstock selection, product and intermediate placement, supply chain optimization, and market analysis.

    + Explain forecast and actuals variances, evaluate feedstock and product opportunities, and run sensitivities as needed.

    + Provide incremental economics on a weekly basis to support optimization efforts within the refinery.

    + Perform ad hoc analysis to guide business decisions around outages and slow downs (such as FCC economics, cost of productions , break-evens, etc ). Sharpen pencil on largest refinery value drivers (crude slate S:TAN , resid-to-gasoil swing, gasoil-to-distillate swing, butane blending, etc.) and maximize them.

    + Manage LPGs (C3/FCC Off Gas/RGP/PGP) per optimized plan.

    + Provide coverage for other responsibilities in the group, examples include scheduling, blending, asphalt test-runs, regular break-even model runs for various commodities, modeling, target tracking, etc.

    + Run TS/Ops/Products meetings for local optimization.

    + Provide reporting on ULSD giveaway and capture.

    + Provide local LP support for project screening prior to TS engagement.

    + Understands local refinery deliverables and can effectively manage with support of others. Understands how scheduling tools/processes work and is trained on APS to develop local refinery plans.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required .

    + Three (3) years relevant experience is required. Technical Services or Economics & Planning experience preferred.
