Position Summary
The Office of Corporation Counsel (OCC) provides legal services to the City and County through its three main divisions. First, OCC represents the City, County agencies, and City-County employees in litigation, handling a diverse docket that ranges from tort and contract matters to constitutional law. Second, through its counseling division, OCC provides legal advice to City and County agencies, officials, and oversight bodies to ensure that public entities remain compliant with the law and standards of ethical conduct, to safeguard public funds, and to promote the efficient functioning of local government for Marion County taxpayers. OCC’s third division is the Office of the City Prosecutor, which is responsible for enforcing City-County ordinances. OCC also oversees the Office of Equal Opportunity, which administers the City’s human rights ordinance, protecting against discrimination in employment and other contexts. In exercising these crucial legal functions, OCC cultivates a productive, collaborative, and compliant work environment that prioritizes the needs of our clients and the residents of Indianapolis and Marion County.
Job Summary
The Forensic Intelligence Analyst (FIA) researches social media to identify organizations and activities that promote gatherings and events which violate both the civil and criminal laws assisting City-County Departments and external agencies in the prevention and interdiction of events and activities which pose a threat to the public. This position will conduct in-depth cyber investigations to assist the Office of the City Prosecutor's multi-departmental nuisance abatement efforts.
The FIA will remain current on emerging technologies to train and educate City-County Departments responsible for the enforcement of laws on the current mechanisms for detecting dangerous activities that are potentially injurious to public safety and public welfare. The FIA provides technical support to the Office of Corporation Counsel. The FIA will also research additional technology that will assist in the streamlining of information retained by OCC. Position reports to the City Prosecutor.

Position Responsibilities
+ Gathering data on problem properties that have generated high levels of police runs, health code complaints or public safety threats.
+ Performing research, analysis and other staff work on behalf of the Nuisance Abatement Task Force.
+ Work with on crime and intelligence analysis to determine trends and probabilities.
+ Monitor all available sources of media, intelligence sources and homeland security to identify threats to public safety.
+ Assist OCC in the review of its current and future technologies to fine areas of improvement.
+ Refer complaints outside the purview of law enforcement to the appropriate agency or department.
+ Develop statistical analysis tools for litigation and enforcement use.
+ Provide updates to the Nuisance Abatement Task Force regarding hotspots to be investigated on a weekly basis.
+ Disseminates information on the status of properties that are used in the commission of unlawful events and activities.
+ Technical support including reviewing current legal research, case management and investigation technology tools used by OCC.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in technology, law and criminal justice or data analysis. Proficiency in administrative and legal processes. Proficiency in cyber communications. Ongoing education in the field of cyber technology.

Master's Degree with an emphasis in technology, law and criminal justice or data analysis.
