Description:

Major Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle

• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions

• Design, administer, maintain and process complex data reporting systems

• Advanced coding practices, writing, maintaining, and tuning SQL and PL/SQL objects, including complex data views, functions, procedures, and packages

• Provide consulting services in ORACLE SQL, PL/SQL, data views and ad hoc database queries

• Consult and administration in the development and maintenance of data systems and web-based applications

• Consulting and administration in the selection and use of database query tools for end user computing

• Collaborate with other functional and technical staff to develop common processes across the University System

• Test applications and data views per functional requirements and performance requirements

• Code complex software systems with associated unit tests

• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues and failures

• Document system architecture and design

• Provide technical leadership

• Learning new systems and technologies to support other team members

• Professional written and verbal communication skills

• Work collaboratively in cross-functional teams

Minimum Qualifications:

• 6+ years experience within Relational Databases, specifically Oracle - writing, maintaining and tuning SQL and PL/SQL

• 6+ years experience in database development using query, reporting and tuning tools such as SQL Developer, Oracle Interactive Reporting, Info Maker, etc.

• 5+ years experience in web application development with ability to adapt to new technologies

• Familiarity and experience in Amazon Redshift/AWS to organize and structure data across data warehouses

• Demonstrated ability to perform major responsibilities of the position

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree

• Experience in a higher education environment

• Experience modernizing legacy applications and data system technologies (e.g., Web based solutions, Containerization, business automation)

• Experience migrating legacy applications and data systems to new environments

• Background knowledge of PHP and Java programming for web applications

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:

• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret complex policies & procedures

• Ability to analyze requirements, design, develop, test and deliver applications and services

• Planning and organization/project management skills

• Experience and knowledge of ITIL framework

• Excellent collaboration and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work well with diverse people and groups with different levels of technical ability

• Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels

• Ability to prioritize work and deliver services and solutions on time with attention to detail

• Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation
