We are seeking a **_BESAFE Data_** **_Research Assistant_** to support the Check-The-Box Oncology program, which focuses on addressing the critical issue of substandard and falsified (SF) oncology medicines and their impact on cancer care. The program aims to generate evidence on how SF oncology products affect patient outcomes and health systems and to education programs for Healthcare Providers.
The Research Assistant will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and senior research staff to support data management, literature synthesis, modeling activities, and the production of research outputs. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a commitment to improving global access to safe, effective cancer treatments.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
+ Assist in compiling, cleaning, and managing datasets related to cancer burden, oncology medicine quality, procurement, and regulatory surveillance.
+ Conduct literature reviews and synthesize data from peer-reviewed studies, WHO reports, and national health databases to support modeling assumptions.
+ Support the application of epidemiological and economic models to estimate the impact of SF oncology medicines, including QALYs lost and averted.
+ Help conduct country-level sub-analyses and sensitivity tests across various therapeutic classes (e.g., cytotoxic, hormonal, biologic treatments).
+ Generate data visualizations, charts, and summary tables to support presentations, manuscripts, and policy briefs.
+ Collaborate with team members to maintain documentation, organize project files, and ensure reproducibility of analytical workflows.
+ Assist in preparing technical reports, background materials for stakeholder meetings, and internal updates for funders and partners.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master’s Degree in Public Health.
+ Familiarity with data analysis software such as R, Stata or Python.
+ Experience with literature reviews and handling large datasets, especially in health or pharmaceutical contexts.
+ Strong writing and organizational skills with attention to detail and data integrity.
+ Interest in oncology, medicine safety, and health systems in low-resource settings.
+ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.
