    Director, Chemical & Process Sciences - Princeton, NJ

    We are seeking a Chemical and Process Science leader within our Science & Research (S&R) line of business to drive process optimization and intensification for production run on site and implementation of new technologies including continuous processing and automation. The role involves managing a team in the U.S. while being part of the global process engineering team, driving innovation in the fine chemical industry.

    Your Key Responsibilities:

    + Lead & develop the Process Engineering, Process Chemistry & New Technology teams

    + Sound understanding of Process Safety and proven champion of HSE

    + Lead local process automation team and provide support for advanced process control and AI initiatives

    + Provide scientific and technical leadership for the team on process intensification activities and review critically the project progress

    + Propose and lead process optimization programs to increase the competitiveness and sustainability of the ingredient’s portfolio

    + Evaluate and implement innovative technologies to assure State of the Art technology in process optimization and industrial scale production based on successful business cases

    + Provide support and be member of the production site leadership team

    + Develop strong relationships and ensure efficient collaborations with all relevant stakeholders on the business and operations side as well as support function

    + Maintain and expand together with the team a network of external collaborations

    You Bring:

    + PhD or equivalent in Chemical or Process Engineering with proven track records in chemical process innovation, advanced process automation and data analysis

    + Minimum 10+ years of industrial experience in the field of Chemical or Process Engineering covering Process Development and Intensification activities

    + Strong knowledge of modern synthetic organic chemistry, catalysis & process chemistry as well as process safety combined with in depth knowledge of fine chemical, polymer or agrochemical industry

    + Hands-on experience in an industrial environment and proven process optimization capabilities

    + Proven people leadership, strong team building capabilities, proven track record of personal development as well as ability to facilitate change

    + Proven project management and proven track record of successful implementation of process optimization and new technologies on industrial scale

    + In depth knowledge of various industry such as fine chemical, polymer and fermentation

    + Passion for chemical process innovation, advanced process automation and data analysis

     

    The salary or hourly wage scale provided reflects the pay range dsm-firmenich expects to pay the successful candidate for the position. Individual pay offered will be based on the applicant’s job-related skills, experience, relevant education, or training, and primary work location. This position is also eligible for bonuses and benefits, which are not included in the pay scale provided. Salary $176,000-$200,000.

     

    In addition to base salary, we also offer a comprehensive total rewards package, inclusive of annual incentive pay, a retirement savings plan, health care coverage, paid time off, recognition programs and a broad range of other benefits. All benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements.
