Job Summary:
The Clinical Translational Research Coordinator-2 (CTRC-2) will contribute to coordination of multiple ongoing federally-funded studies at the Vanderbilt Music Cognition Lab.

The Clinical Translational Research Coordinator-2 (CTRC-2) will contribute to co
ordination and conducting of multiple ongoing federally-funded studies at the Vanderbilt Music Cognition Lab (Music, Social Engagement, and Development Group: https://www.vumc.org/music-cognition-lab/welcome ). Ongoing studies investigate (a) social communication, social interaction, and language development in autism (with an emphasis on early development though there are opportunities to be involved with projects across early childhood and adulthood); and (b) musical and play experiences in young children with and without developmental differences and their families. The CTRC-2 will receive training and be responsible for conducting social communication and developmental assessments, as well as intervention sessions, with young children on the autism spectrum as well as children with and without language delay or typical development for research-based assessment and intervention studies. Research intervention sessions to support child social communication skills are grounded in naturalistic developmental behavioral intervention strategies and include play-based activities.
The CTRC-2 will also support study coordination including IRB management, participant recruitment and screening for study participation, and other study-related tasks such as protocol and data management. As of interest to the candidate, the CTRC-2 has opportunities to be involved with broader experimental data collection and coding and to contribute to study dissemination through scientific and community forums. Research approaches and experimental methodologies used in the lab include acoustics, movement dynamics, behavioral assessments and coding, EEG, eye-tracking, NLP, ecological momentary assessments (EMA) and more.
Prior experience in research, clinical, or educational settings is required. Training will be provided in the specific intervention and assessment protocols used in the research lab studies; however, prior experience in clinical, research, or educational settings with young children with autism is preferred. The position requires high attention to detail, comfort working with children and adults, and willingness to learn new skills and be part of an interdisciplinary research team. Background/degree in discipline of speech language pathology / communication sciences, psychology, or child studies is preferred. A Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Psychology is preferred.
