    Job Description

    The MLIS Program Coordinator is responsible for managing the program-specific strategic development and regular operations of the MLIS program. They are responsible for:

     

    • Answering individualized inquiries (phone call or zoom meetings; transcript reviews)

    • Guiding newly admitted students; registering continuing students; assisting students regarding withdrawals, incompletes, academic warning, accommodations, etc.

    • Scheduling sufficient sections of courses and providing administrative support for hiring of adjuncts

    • Administratively supporting and assisting adjuncts with onboarding completion, answering payroll questions, and setting up ODU accounts

    • Assisting with licensure process for school librarianship including those with a teaching license, those without a teaching license, and those with an MLIS seeking licensure.

    • Tracking student progress through program expectations and requirements (completion of ePortfolio; application to graduate; internship requirements and placement; completion of university and licensure requirements, etc.)

    Working experience in an academic or similar setting.

     

    Considerable experience working with diverse populations including students, faculty, staff, administrators and the public.

    + Considerable knowledge and experience supporting higher education programming and systems.

    + Working knowledge of services and resources available to students through ODU campus departments and agencies, with the ability and initiative to make appropriate referrals.

    + Working knowledge of licensure process for school librarianship.

    + Familiarity with ODU academic administration and record keeping systems and processes.

    + Demonstrated ability to interpret, design, and implement academic processes and policies.

    + Considerable related experience in administrative positions or project management.
