Tax Compliance Sr Lead Finance & People & Culture Puerto Rico General Responsibilities As Tax Compliance Lead your responsibilities will be: •Prepare, monitor and validate accuracy regarding quarterly income tax provisions and/or any other analysis required for tax purposes, as required by ASC 740. •Calculate the effective tax rate for the corresponding entities based on the budget and/or updated forecast numbers. •Gather, analyze, and prepare all the backup documentation and information necessary to complete Puerto Rico income, personal property, municipal volume of business, annual reports for PRIDCO and the Department of State annual returns. •Gather, analyze, and prepare all the backup documentation and information necessary to complete USA and USVI corporate annual income tax returns, the gross receipts monthly return with the USVI government, and other applicable US and /or USVI filings. •Assist in the preparation of the 10Q (quarterly report) and 10K (annual audited report) income tax related disclosures. •Review the biweekly payroll taxes deposits process and the quarterly payroll tax returns filed with the corresponding governmental agencies. •Review the monthly Sales and Use (IVU) tax returns. Assists with consultations related to IVU matters. •Assist top management in the implementation of tax strategies to enhance and optimize the organization tax structure. Performs duties through methods and actions that are consistently ethical and in total compliance with the laws, applicable regulations, Code of Ethics, corporate policies and guidelines and rules of conduct. Completes corporate trainings and certifications intended for the detection and prevention of money laundering related activities and fraud, insider training and conflict of interest policies and procedures, as applicable. Education and Experience Required •Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university. •At least 6 years of progressive experience in tax planning, tax reporting and the preparation of P.R. and U.S. tax returns. •Knowledge of applicable tax laws of the commonwealth of P.R. and for U.S. territories in which EVERTEC conducts business. •Knowledge of SOX (Internal Controls). Knowledge and Skills Required •Proficient in preparing and reviewing income tax provisions and effective tax rate calculations under ASC 740. •Experience with tax-related disclosures in 10Q and 10K filings. •Strong knowledge of Puerto Rico tax laws (income, property, municipal, IVU). •Familiarity with U.S. federal and state tax laws, and U.S. Virgin Islands tax compliance. •Skilled in gathering, analyzing, and validating financial data for tax filings. •Ability to prepare comprehensive backup documentation for audits and regulatory compliance. •Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements related to tax processes. •Experience reviewing payroll and sales tax processes for compliance. •Ability to support and implement tax strategies that optimize the organization's tax position. •Comfortable working with finance, payroll, and leadership teams across regions.
