Position Description:
Employees in this classification are responsible for the planning, organization, direction, and evaluation of patient care services (primarily nursing services) within an assigned specialty or sub-specialty area in one of the ambulatory clinics. Persons in this position provide supervision and direction to subordinate nursing personnel, coordinating the nursing service with the medical services in order to provide an efficient and professional environment for optimum production in health care for the patient. Employees are also responsible for providing professional nursing care within the assigned area of work. Supervisory duties include but are not limited to interviewing applicants for vacant nursing positions and making the final selection, maintaining personnel records regarding leave time, evaluations, and personnel problems, conducting employee evaluations, approving and coordinating leave time for nursing personnel, and assisting personnel in setting work-related goals. Work is performed under usual clinic conditions.

Major/Essential Functions:
+ The RN, with a focus on patient safety, is required to function within the parameters of the legal scope of practice and in accordance with the federal, state, and local laws; rules and regulations; and policies, procedures and guidelines of the employing health care institution or practice setting.
+ Clinical Leadership Provide clinical leadership and guidance to clinical staff, ensuring adherence to best practices, standards of care, and regulatory requirements Conduct regular assessments of patient care processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.
+ Staff Management and Development: Supervise and mentor clinical staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that promotes development among clinical team members. Ensure adequate staffing levels and skill mix to meet patient care needs effectively and efficiently.
+ Patient Care and Coordination: Collaborate with healthcare providers, support staff, and other departments to coordinate patient care activities and facilitate seamless transitions of care. Monitor patient flow and throughput, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and minimize wait times. Address patient concerns and complaints promptly, striving to resolve issues and improve the overall patient experience. Provide professional nursing care including administration of drugs, patient education, and provide clinical coverage within the assigned area of work. Manages overall nursing activities in clinic and assures that policies, procedures, and legal parameters are being followed.
+ Quality Assurance and Compliance: Participate in quality improvement initiatives, data analysis, and performance monitoring to ensure continuous quality improvement. Conduct regular audits and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of clinical processes and identify areas for enhancement. Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, environmental safety standards, and risk management practices.
+ Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, advanced practice providers, allied health professionals, and administrative staff, to achieve clinic goals and objectives. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, committees, and task forces to address clinical issues, improve care coordination, and enhance patient outcomes.
+ Resource Management: Manage clinical resources efficiently, including supplies and equipment. Identify opportunities for cost containment and resource optimization without compromising the quality of patient care.
+ Professional Development and Continuous Learning: Stay well-informed of advancements in nursing practice, ambulatory care trends, and regulatory changes through ongoing education, training, and professional development. Serve as a resource and advocate for evidence-based practice, clinical excellence, and professional growth within the nursing team and the broader healthcare community.
+ Other: Participate in community outreach activities (such as health fairs, community collaborations or outreach clinics) as assigned. May be required to provide cross-coverage for various Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso clinics across locations (Alberta, Transmountain, NE Clinic, Kenworthy, etc.) to ensure operational and staffing needs are met.
+ Adhere to all policies, procedures and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSECEP OPs, etc.).
+ Remains current with all licensure, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position.
+ Personally demonstrate, display and act in accordance with TTUHSC EP's Values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Serve as a Value's leader while actively promoting and encouraging staff across the institution.
+ Perform all other duties to meet the goals and needs of the department as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
+ Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program.
+ Current RN license in the State of Texas or ability to obtain a Texas license.
+ At least four years in nursing, with at least two of those years in a supervisory capacity.
+ Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
