    Job Summary

    OVERVIEW

    Work as part of a collaborative team to support the daily operations and varied programmatic needs of the Bennion Center for Community Engagement at the University of Utah. Primary job responsibilities include serving as an ambassador for the Bennion Center through various outreach efforts that include the following:

     

    + Create and deliver templates and standard outreach presentations.

    + Connect with recognized student organizations to share about Bennion Center programs and opportunities to spread the reach of the Bennion Center.

    + Support Bennion Center Student Leader recruitment efforts.

    + In cooperation with the Associate Director for Student Engagement and Outreach, develop intentional recruitment strategies for colleges and departments across the University of Utah.

     

    This position will be hired at approximately 10-12 hours a week.

     

    This position may be asked to cover a regular desk shift at the Bennion Center front desk or the Bennion Center Kiosk at Kahlert Village.

    Responsibilities

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Outreach Coordinator duties include:

    + Provide day-to-day operational support for marketing & communication efforts

    + Provide logistical and coordination support by the Bennion Center.

    + Research and make connections to present Bennion Center information in classroom presentations and meetings.

    + Check and replenish materials in the Bennion Center tabling wagon.

    + Work to gain coverage at various tabling opportunities the Bennion Center is invited to including welcome week, plazapalooza, etc.

    + Coordinate with Bennion Center staff on best practices and training on tabling.

    + Coordinate with Bennion Center staff on giveaways and swag for outreach events.

    + Provide support for various requests from faculty, staff, students, and community organizations/members for presentations and outreach events.

    + Participate as an active member of the Bennion Center community by sharing information and collaborating with colleagues in a respectful and professional manner and contributing to a healthy and positive work environment.

    + Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Bennion Center’s mission.

    Desk / Kiosk Attendant duties will include:

    + Serve as ambassadors for the Bennion Center at the Bennion Center Kiosk at the Gail Miller Community Engagement Tower (located at the Kahlert Village residence hall) and at the Bennion Center office in the student union.

    + Refer interested students to the appropriate Bennion Center programs and community engagement opportunities both on and off campus.

    + Maintain inventory of supplies and needs at the kiosk and in the Bennion Center.

    + Guide and instruct drop-in volunteers on available Service Corner projects.

    + Attendants will assist Bennion Center staff with other clerical tasks to help meet the mission, vision, and values of the Bennion Center.

    Additional duties and expectations will include:

    + Attend Bennion Center Student Leader Orientation

    + Keep open and timely communication with the Bennion Center Staff Partner

    + Meet deadlines given by Bennion Center Staff Partner

    + Utilize the KRONOS system for payroll

    Minimum Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements

    + High School Diploma, or equivalency.

    + Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.

    + Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

    + This is a work-study position. Students must have been awarded a FederalWork-Study Award for the current year and be enrolled in classes at the U during their time of employment.

    + Please login to CIS and go to the Finance/Financial Aid section to view your Financial Aid Status. Before hire, this employer will confirm that you have received a Federal Work-Study Award for the current year.

    + Students in this role cannot work more than 19 hours a week. Any other on-campus position must be shared with the hiring manager in order to not go over the 19 hours a week standard.

     

    Preferences

     

    + Excellent organizational skills. Must be able to prioritize workload and complete tasks to meet deadlines, with minimal supervision.

    + Experience effectively “managing up” to resolve questions and gather the information and resources needed to execute position responsibilities.
