You'll be joining a highly skilled team of Controls Standards Engineers in Body Construction Engineering. You will play a key role in ensuring our ability to maintain the highest standards of manufacturing quality, consistency and safety. We’ll look to you to provide expert direction for controls equipment locations that meet optimal safety, maintenance and production considerations for tool install through launch.

What you'll do:
+ Provide direction for controls equipment locations for safety, maintenance and production consideration
+ Review and approve controls design and build to support program timing
+ Aid in defining Factory Information System (FIS) assets at PLC level
+ Support coordination between tooling supplier and plant floor systems supplier for FIS, ILVS, IBSS, etc.
+ Support integration of Plant Facilities supplied equipment: energy supplies, operator lift tables.
+ Verify all Ford safety standards are adhered
+ Review tool build to ensure maintainability
+ Perform debug and tool buyoff of controls functions that support maintenance and production, i.e. fault diagnostics, manual screen functions, robot control screens, and all remaining panel view functions at integrators’ floor.
+ Establish and support updates of controls standards for current developments
+ Ensure cross commodity tooling consistency
+ Mentor tooling suppliers to provide safe, consistent, reliable and maintainable tooling
+ Verify common Ford programming practices are followed
+ Review interface designs to support program timing
+ Verify Ford standards and guidelines: logic template, logic programming guide, robot programming guides, and applicable directional letters are adhered to during commissioning of tooling and interfaces.
+ Verify Ford approved components and standard controls panels are used during tool design/build phase
+ Review and approve the controls design/build checklists for each tool prior to scheduled buyoff
+ Review and approve the logic comparison file, Ethernet calculator, robot teach permissive and Safety PLC design and functions prior to scheduled buyoff.
+ Perform the PLC/robot safety risk assessments and sign EL10 documents.
+ Assist in the development of a robust prove out and test plan for any new interfaces being developed
+ Review and approve the integration of the PCB.
+ Coordinate controls open-issue meetings between all the tooling/facility integrators and the plant during the design/build phase – include hardware/software interlock review between tooling and facility conveyors.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ BSc, Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical OR Electrical) or equivalent field
+ 5+ years' experience in developing and enforcing Controls Standards and best practices
+ Detailed working knowledge of robots; preferably Fanuc and Kawasaki
+ Experience with the development and launch of new controls, processes and facilities
+ Strong communication, leadership and computer skills
+ Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
+ Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally – up to 70% (largely local to S.E. MI)
+ Must be willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays to ensure completion of assignments
Preferred Qualifications:
+ In-depth knowledge and experience in Ford controls architectures
+ Proficient use of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and Rockwell Software Suite
+ Proven network experience with Ethernet, DeviceNet, Profinet, Profibus, etc. (especially Ethernet/IP)
