    Job Summary

    Under the supervision of the Patient Access Director, the Patient Access Manager is responsible for the overall management and coordination of the Emergency Department (ED) and Outpatient Patient Access Staff. This role ensures that patient access processes are executed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards and best practices. The Patient Access Manager will oversee daily operations, staffing, and performance management to enhance patient satisfaction, optimize workflows, and support the financial objectives of the hospital.

    Essential Functions

    + Provide direct supervision and leadership to the ED and Outpatient Patient Access staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.

    + Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement.

    + Oversee the daily operations of the ED and Outpatient Patient Access departments, ensuring that patient registration, check-in, and admission processes are conducted efficiently and with a focus on patient experience.

    + Maintains a close working relationship with ancillary departments in the hospital, as well as the physician’s offices, to insure timely and proper handling of patients.

    + Prepares schedule for employees to work, providing adequate coverage for PTOs, vacant positions, etc. Also ensures correctness of employee time in Kronos.

    + Attends administrative and other meetings as required. Keeps abreast of hospital policies and procedures as well as Business Office policies and procedures and strives to see they are adhered to by Registration staff.

    + Prepares annual evaluations for employees, assuring fairness and consistency.

    + Prepares documentation for counseling of employees when the need arises.

    + Is responsible for maintaining all information confidentially and performing job functions in a professional manner.

    + Monitor and manage patient flow, patient wait times, staffing levels and workload distribution to ensure timely and effective service delivery.

    Qualifications

    + **Education:** Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field preferred.

    + **Experience:** Minimum of 5 years of experience in patient access, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Experience in ED and Outpatient settings is highly preferred.

    + **Requirements:** Must be able to read, write and communicate in English while performing the job duties. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement process improvements. Proficiency in patient access systems and software. Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards.

    + **Licenses/Certifications:** None

    + **Other:** Primarily works in a hospital environment with frequent patient interaction with patients, staff and clinical departments.
