We are looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Benefits Manager to join our Human Resources team. The Benefits Manager will be responsible the implementation, administration, and recordkeeping of all domestic benefit plans for active and retired employees. Benefit plans include medical, dental, life, long-term disability (LTD), dependent life, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D), flexible spending accounts, and miscellaneous employee benefits such as vacation, holidays, tuition reimbursement, COBRA administration, Retirement Savings Plan, and Pension Plan. The Benefits Manager will also assist with planning and interpretation of pertinent company benefit policies and legal compliance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Benefits Program Management: Oversee all aspects of the welfare benefits program, including annual enrollment, new enrollments, qualified life event changes, eligibility to vendors, pricing, census reporting, payroll deductions, and maintenance of data and monthly benefit invoices
+ Wellness Program Management: Manage the Wellness Program with Personify Health, determining annual plan design, engagement activities, and annual screenings
+ Communication and Education: Compose and coordinate annual enrollment communications for employees, retirees, and Field HR. Provide new hire benefit orientation and consult with potential new hires on benefit plans as requested
+ Plan Design and Compliance: Work with the CHRO, Vice President of Total Rewards, and consultants to analyze and review plan design, ensuring compliance with laws and suggesting changes for uniformity and cost savings. Interpret plan provisions and clarify with legal counsel if required
+ Vendor Management: Manage relationships with consultants and all vendor partners, ensuring quality service delivery and compliance with contractual obligations
+ Legal Compliance: Ensure compliance with all legal filings (e.g., 5500s and Summary Annual Reports) and maintain files of plan documents, amendments, and qualification of QMSCOs. Serve as Privacy Officer to assure HIPAA compliance
+ Employee Support: Assist employees with benefit inquiries, escalations, and appeals. Provide consultative direction to employees participating in the Materion Pension Plan and Retirement Savings Plan, communicating with participants throughout the year regarding plan limits and contributions
+ Retiree Benefits Management/Annual Reporting and Audit: Manage retiree benefit programs, including communications, annual elections, pricing, and administration of retiree billing with vendors. Provide required documents for the annual audit of retirement plans and input for 5500s filed by finance. Communicate with actuaries and legal counsel for interpretation of plan provisions as necessary
+ Tuition Reimbursement Oversight: Oversee, monitor, and track tuition reimbursement for all employees, ensuring corporate interpretation of policy is applied
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field; MBA or related experience preferred; professional certification (e.g., CEBS, PHR, SPHR) is a plus
+ Minimum of 7 years of experience in benefits administration or human resources, with a focus on benefits management
+ Strong knowledge of employee benefits laws and regulations, including ERISA, ACA, and FMLA
+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions
+ Strong communication skills and the ability to develop positive working relationships with internal and external vendors and customers
+ Ability to exercise sound judgment, set priorities, and organize effectively in all areas of accountability
+ Demonstrated maturity in dealing with different levels of employees in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality of all employee data
