Koniag IT Systems, LLC** , a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a skilled Software Developer with GIS expertise to join our dynamic development team at Stennis Space Center, Mississippi. The ideal candidate will contribute to the full software development lifecycle, with a focus on geospatial applications and solutions. Position Description:

The Software Developer will be responsible for developing and maintaining software applications with a strong emphasis on geospatial technologies, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

+ Design, code, test, and debug software applications

+ Develop and maintain GIS applications using ESRI technologies

+ Collaborate with team members on software design and code reviews

+ Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code

+ Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle

+ Troubleshoot and resolve software defects

+ Document technical specifications and maintain software documentation

+ Participate in Agile development processes including daily stand-ups and sprint planning

+ Implement security and data protection solutions

+ Optimize application performance and scalability

+ Create and maintain geospatial databases and services

Education and Experience:

+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Development, GIS, or related field

+ 3+ years of professional software development experience

+ Proven experience with GIS software development

+ Experience with version control systems (preferably Git)

Required Skills and Competencies:

+ Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Java, Python, C++, or similar)

+ Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles

+ Experience with relational databases and SQL

+ Demonstrated experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), specifically:

+ Commercial Joint Mapping Toolkit (CJMTK)

+ ESRI ArcGIS suite of commercial software developer components

+ ArcGIS Runtime

+ ArcGIS Engine

+ ArcGIS extensions including:

+ 3-D Analyst

+ Geostatistical Analyst

+ Network Analyst

+ Spatial Analyst

+ Tracking Analyst

+ ArcGIS Server

+ Knowledge of software development methodologies and best practices

+ Familiarity with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)

+ Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

+ Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

+ Experience with testing frameworks and methodologies

+ Understanding of software security principles

+ Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

+ Must be able to work on-site at Stennis Space Center, MS

Desired Skills and Competencies:

+ Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

+ Knowledge of microservices architecture

+ Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

+ Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines

+ Experience with Agile development methodologies

+ Knowledge of DevOps practices

+ Experience with test-driven development

+ Federal government contract experience

+ Security clearance or ability to obtain one

+ Experience with mobile application development

+ Advanced GIS analysis and modeling skills

+ Experience with spatial databases

+ Knowledge of cartographic principles

+ Experience with remote sensing data and applications
