    Job Summary and Qualifications

     

    The Critical Care Director ensures high quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall function and staffing of the unit(s)/department(s) in addition to forecasting, planning, and budget monitoring. The Director fosters a culture of accountability and collaboration and supports the development and implementation of strategies, policies, and procedures in support of facility objectives.

    What you will do in this role:

    + Maintain responsibility for the overall direction of the assigned department(s).

    + Cultivate a superior clinical identity by identifying and implementing evidence-based practices to advance patient safety and quality outcomes, ensuring adherence to standards of care.

    + Ensure that Nursing Care is based on the Nursing Process and evaluate the effectiveness on an ongoing basis.

    + Implement Emergency Management Plan and Patient Safety Initiatives.

    + Coordinate the department’s participation in activities to assure continuous performance improvement.

    + Manage variation in clinical practice to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost, while ensuring a culture of accountability and transparency in the provision of care.

    + Stay abreast of legal and regulatory standards and ensures compliance through developing and implementing policies, procedures, and practices.

    + Ensure efficient patient throughput and delivery of high quality, patient-centered care through volume forecasting, patient flow coordination, and admission/discharge planning.

    + Provide leadership in attaining and sustaining an unparalleled patient experience, by instilling accountability for providing consistent, positive patient interactions that differentiate the organization as a healthcare leader.

    + Leverage various feedback mechanisms to benchmark performance and identify opportunities to improve customer/patient satisfaction in an effort to elevate the patient experience.

    + Foster a culture that inspires commitment to the vision/mission/values of the organization, ensuring employees are recognized, valued, and supported.

    + Identify development opportunities or training needs of individual employees and teams and provide any needed coaching, feedback, or training to improve performance.

    + Collaborate with administrative team and physicians to enhance existing services or develop new service offerings.

    + Identify stakeholder engagement strategies, technology advances, and other opportunities to drive differentiation and increase volume.

    + Participate in the annual budget process, including input into department revenue and expense forecasts, staffing, and supply and equipment needs.

    + Ensure effective labor management, including position control, scheduling excellence, productivity management, and premium pay utilization to maintain staffing to ensure appropriate patient care.

    + Manage operating expenses, including the utilization of supplies and equipment. Identify cost reduction opportunities and implement actions to achieve savings.

    What qualifications you will need:

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required; Master’s Degree in healthcare-related field preferred.

    + Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Kentucky or compact state required.

    + 5 years of related clinical leadership experience required.

    + Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

    + Specialty certification in Executive Nursing Practice and or Healthcare Administration preferred.

    + Membership in American Organization of Nurse Leaders (AONL) preferred.
