Job Description:
The primary purpose of this position is to oversee actions pertinent to the Patton College Teacher Education Professional Internship. Some of those actions include facilitating the internship application process; securing internship placements within partnering school districts; scheduling, organizing and conducting various orientation meetings and seminar sessions; hiring and mentoring University Clinical Educators; and communicating with school partners to promote and implement the clinical model of the Patton College of Education.
Develop, facilitate, and supervise the professional internship application and placement process by:
+ Creating the application through Qualtrics software
+ Publicizing the due dates for applications on various student information sites
+ Advising teacher candidates on application completion
+ Supervising the Graduate Assistant who supports the application/placement process
Secure the placements for Teacher Education Internships through strategic outreach by:
+ Identifying and adhering to placement protocols for partnering school districts
+ Collaborating with school district personnel for internship placement availability, per district protocol
+ Documenting teacher candidate-mentor teacher interview processes
+ Finalizing and maintaining records of the professional internship placements
Initiates and maintains productive communication with all stakeholders by:
+ Serving as the main contact for ongoing communication regarding professional internship matters.
+ Engaging in ongoing communication with Student Affairs staff, University Clinical Educators, Teacher Education faculty, mentor teachers and school district personnel.
+ Supporting the professional internship accreditation data collection process in collaboration with the center director and the Direct of Assessment and Academic Improvement.
Responsible for hiring and mentoring University Clinical Educators (adjunct faculty) by:
+ Interviewing potential hires for the adjunct UCE positions
+ Planning and facilitating University Clinical Educator orientation meetings during fall and spring semesters related to Patton College requirements and expectations.
+ Co-facilitating Patton College initiatives and training relative to the supervision of professional interns in Teacher Education
+ Responding to and advising University Clinical Educators on professional issues related to Professional Interns
+ Collaborate with regional campus partners to support the implementation of Patton College requirements and expectations for hiring and mentoring UCE positions
Provides strategic program development through ongoing interaction including large and small group meetings by :
+ Organizing and facilitating pre-orientation sessions, specialized by program area, for internships
+ Organizing and facilitating the professional internship orientation meeting on the first day of each semester
+ Planning monthly Professional Internship seminars, which include scheduling rooms, securing guest speakers, monitoring attendance, providing resource information relative to the Professional Internships experience and assisting with problems solving on matters pertinent to the seminar course for undergraduate and graduate students.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Education or related field.
At least three (3) years of related work experience.
At least three (3) years of managerial/supervisory experience.
