Job Description: GIS/Environmental Coordinator
Position Overview:
The GIS and Environmental Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing the integration of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This role involves the collection, analysis, and interpretation of spatial data to support on-going development operations and related environmental initiatives, regulatory compliance, and resources management.
Key Responsibilities:
+ GIS Data Management
+ Collect, process, and maintain GIS databases to for a wide range of functions including Geology, Asset Development/infrastructure, Operations, EHS, and Land
+ + Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and currency of GIS databases, including new well locations, pipelines, lease boundaries, related facilities, and environmental data.
+ Data Analysis & Mapping
+ Create and maintain updated datasets and data conversions.
+ Produce detailed maps and spatial analyses to support exploration, drilling, and production activities.
+ Use GIS tools to analyze spatial relationships and support decision-making (e.g., identifying suitable drilling sites or pipeline routes).
+ Support Field Operations
+ Provide GIS support for field teams, helping with navigation, site planning, and environmental compliance.
+ Create and update maps for use in the field, including well locations, access roads, and pipeline corridors.
+ Collect field datum and coordinate system conversion as well as automate workflows through GIS solutions.
+ Environmental Analysis and Regulatory Compliance
+ Perform spatial analysis to assess environmental impacts and trends, including land use, environmental compliance factors.
+ Provide GIS-based solutions and oversight of environmental permits including, stream crossings related GPs as well as E&S control plans for well locations, pipelines, and related facilities
+ Integration with Other Systems
+ Integrate GIS data with other company systems such as QGIS, CAD, or asset management systems.
+ Collected and integrate GPS data into GIS systems.
+ Assist in converting and importing/exporting data across different formats and platforms.
+ Data Quality Control & Documentation
+ Perform quality control on spatial data and metadata to ensure consistency and reliability.
+ Document GIS processes, data sources, and standards for internal use.
+ Collaboration and Communication
+ Work closely with geologists, land, engineers, environmental specialists, and field staff to understand spatial data needs.
+ Communicate findings and spatial information clearly through maps, reports, and presentations.
+ Technology and Innovation
+ Stay up-to-date with advancements in GIS technology trends and tools relevant to oil and gas and best practices.
+ Implement new tools and methodologies to improve efficiency, accuracy, and outcomes in GIS and environmental management.
+ Skills and Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geospatial Sciences, Environmental Science, or related field.
+ Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar).
+ Experience with environmental data collection, analysis, and reporting.
+ Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
+ Ability to communicate complex technical information to a variety of audiences.
+ Project management experience is a plus.
+ Familiarity with remote sensing, spatial modeling, and geospatial analysis techniques is an advantage.

+ Work Environment
Tasks are regularly performed inside without exposure to adverse environmental conditions, but will require field visits with possible exposure to adverse environmental conditions (e.g., dirt, cold, rain, fumes).
+ Office-based with field visits to collect data or assess environmental conditions.
+ Collaborative environment with cross-functional teams, including Geology, Operations, Land, and Engineering personnel.
