About Mystic Valley Regional Charter School (MVRCS)
Mystic Valley Regional Charter School, founded in 1998 and located in Malden, Massachusetts, serves more than 1,600 students from Kindergarten through Grade 12. Mystic Valley’s extended school year includes 200 instructional days, 20 more than the traditional public school calendar, and a longer school day by 60 minutes. Position Overview
Mystic Valley is seeking a dynamic, dedicated Elementary School Teacher (Grades K–6) to join our team. This full-time position involves teaching a rigorous academic curriculum using Direct Instruction and Core Knowledge methodologies. The successful candidate will maintain high behavioral and academic standards, deliver content with fidelity, and work collaboratively in a team-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities
+ Maintain a consistent classroom schedule and an engaging, organized learning environment.
+ Implement Direct Instruction and Core Knowledge curricula with fidelity and effectiveness.
+ Use and reinforce the 4:1 ratio of positive-to-corrective feedback to support student behavior.
+ Track and document student progress daily; submit weekly updates to the Professional Development Coordinator (PDC).
+ Provide feedback on curriculum effectiveness and areas for growth to the PDC weekly.
+ Attend and participate in all scheduled professional development opportunities.
+ Collaborate with colleagues in weekly grade-level meetings, bi-weekly Teacher Assistance Team (TAT) meetings, and bi-monthly faculty meetings.
+ Support students with IEPs and 504 plans, including completing documentation and providing classroom accommodations.
+ Complete and submit four progress reports and four report cards annually for all assigned students.
+ Conduct four parent-teacher conferences per year (two in the fall, two in the spring).
+ Attend school community events, including “Back to School Night,” open houses, holiday performances, and the High School Senior Luncheon.
+ Fulfill assigned responsibilities during morning arrival, lunch/recess supervision, and afternoon dismissal.
+ Support and enforce all school policies and procedures.
+ Perform all additional duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher or school leadership.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree required.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to solve problems, analyze data, and draw sound conclusions.
+ Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn relevant educational laws, policies, and procedures.
+ Collaborative, student-centered mindset with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
+ Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
+ Successful completion of applicable MTEL exams within one year of employment.
+ U.S. work authorization required.
+ This is a one-year appointment, with the possibility of annual renewal based on performance.
