    Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our team in Lanham, Maryland. This Contract-to-permanent role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in accounting and administrative tasks, especially within the financial or banking sector. You will play a key role in processing transactions, handling account updates, and managing mail operations efficiently.

    Responsibilities:

    • Process mailed requests such as stop payments, check orders, account changes, and verification of deposits promptly and accurately.

    • Manage returned mail and update bad address records to maintain accurate account information.

    • Open, sort, and distribute incoming mail while preparing outgoing mail, including special deliveries, certified, and registered mail.

    • Perform file maintenance tasks, including opening, renewing, and updating Share and Share Certificate accounts.

    • Handle payment processing and ensure the accurate execution of Share Draft transactions.

    • Assist with funding new member accounts and reviewing Share Certificates requiring updates or assistance.

    • Process outgoing domestic and international wire transfers, including fee collection.

    • Support verification processes for Medicaid and organizational transfers.

    • Coordinate check order verifications and prepare outgoing correspondence from the printer to members.

    • Collaborate on special account updates and reports, such as death notice reports. Requirements • At least 1 year of experience in an accounting or administrative role with a focus on detail-oriented tasks.

    • Familiarity with financial institutions or banking operations is preferred.

    • Proficiency in account reconciliation, invoice processing, and accounts payable tasks.

    • Strong data entry skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.

    • Experience using Microsoft Excel and Office 365 for daily operations.

    • Ability to handle mail operations, including sorting and distributing incoming mail efficiently.

    • Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines.

    • Effective communication skills to assist with member correspondence and verification processes.
