Description We are looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to join our team in Chardon, Ohio. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in preparing financial reports, analyzing costs, and maintaining accurate records to ensure optimal financial performance. This position requires a strong background in accounting principles and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed cost reports for management, including key performance indicators and metrics to enhance cost control and profitability.

• Analyze production costs at various manufacturing stages, identifying variances and opportunities for cost savings.

• Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods, ensuring accurate cost accounting and optimal inventory turnover.

• Perform weekly reviews and closures of completed work orders while verifying the status of open work orders.

• Ensure subledger reports for accounts receivable and payable align with the general ledger.

• Maintain and update prepaid expenses and accrual schedules, making necessary adjustments with monthly entries.

• Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly and prepare corresponding journal entries.

• Assist with audit preparation and respond to auditor inquiries.

• Calculate and remit payments to state and local tax authorities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

• Supervise and support a part-time accounts receivable/accounts payable specialist, overseeing daily invoicing, payment applications, and vendor management. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.

• At least 5 years of experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.

• Proven ability to lead and manage accounting teams effectively.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.

• Solid understanding of accounting principles, general ledger reconciliation, and cash management.

• Exceptional organizational and communication skills.

• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and work-in-progress (WIP) accounting processes.

• Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial data.
