    Position Description:

    The Release Train Engineer will serve as a servant leader for Agile Release Trains, facilitating ART processes and ensuring smooth delivery of value in alignment with SAFe principles, with a focus on SAP implementation and optimization. This role will work closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters and stakeholders to optimize program execution and foster continuous improvement.

     

    The Release Train Engineer (RTE) will lead a single Agile Release Train (ART) within an SAP S/4HANA implementation practicing Essential SAFe. The RTE will facilitate ART-level events, help manage cross-team dependencies and program risks and support delivery transparency. The RTE will contribute insights and collaborate with program leadership, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, the Agile Coach and others to optimize program execution and foster continuous improvement.

     

    This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable. You will be required to be in our Fairfax, VA office two days per week.

    Your future duties and responsibilities:

    • Facilitate ART events such as PI Planning, ART Sync, Inspect & Adapt and System Demos - facilitating alignment to PI cadence and project milestones.

    • Partner with the Agile Coach to support Agile maturity, foster collaboration across roles and drive execution excellence and consistency.

    • Coach teams, Scrum Masters and Product Owners on relevant Agile practices to enhance maturity and delivery performance.

    • Proactively identify and escalate risks, dependencies and delivery impediments.

    • Use Jira, BigPicture and Confluence to manage the implementation backlog, ART Planning Board, risks and dashboards to foster visibility across teams and stakeholders.

    • Track and report on ART-level performance (e.g., throughput, velocity, predictability, PI Objectives, etc.) and provide data-driven insights to the Agile Coach and program leadership.

    • Support continuous improvement by surfacing retrospective themes, encouraging and enabling actionable team experiments and modeling servant leadership behaviors.

    • Align team-level delivery with broader SAP business objectives - offering thoughtful recommendations to the Agile Coach and program leadership.

    • Collaborate with Agile Coach, Scrum Masters and the JPMO to standardize Agile delivery practices and address SAP-specific implementation needs.

    • Contribute to the adoption of DevOps thinking, practices and tools to help streamline release processes in the SAP environment.

    Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

    • Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearance requirements, US citizenship is required as well as successful passing of CGI background check prior to beginning work. In addition, candidates must have ability to obtain and maintain a DHS/CISA EOD/Public Trust clearance.

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business or related field (or equivalent experience).

    • 7+ years of experience in Agile environments with 2+ years as a Release Train Engineer or similar servant leader role.

    • Certified SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE6) or SAFe Program Consultant (SPC6).

    • Strong facilitation, coaching and servant leadership skills.

    • Proficiency with Jira, BigPicture and Confluence.

    Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:

    • Experience supporting ARTs in SAP implementations (e.g., S/4HANA, ECC, Solution Manager).

    • Familiarity with SAP Activate and its alignment with SAFe practices.

    • Exposure to DevOps practices and SAP-focused CI/CD tools.

    • Background in Agile transformation or project delivery within SAP environments.

     

    CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $88,200.00 - $190,900.00.
