    The UMHC/SCCC Nursing Department has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Nursing Supervisor for the Day Shift. The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

     

    + Receive/Give report to Nursing Supervisor, Nurse Manager or designee as needed Rounds on operational clinics and units and whenever necessary to supervise and monitor work performance in terms of patient care, staff regulations and efficiency of services

    + Communicates and coordinate with the on-duty Security Officer of the shift.

    + Communicates with other department manager/director issues and concerns either in person, via e-mail or by telephone.

    + Ensure that pertinent information or issues are communicating to the Lead Facility Supervisor, Associate Administrator/CNO and Director of Nursing.

    + Assigns and schedule admissions and transfer as appropriate.

    + Coordinates emergency transfers, tests and/or procedures following guidelines and policy and procedures

    + Pick-up/Endorse EMR Nextel phone.

    + Evaluate emergency situations within the hospital.

    + Ensure incident reporting is followed and forms are completed.

    + Completes of Blood and Body Fluid exposures and documentations.

    + Coordinates with family regarding funeral arrangements.

    + Contact priest or rabbi and other next of kin.

    + Ensure notification of attending and completion of necessary forms.

    + Notify Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency of any deaths.

    + Facilitates autopsy/medical examiner procedures

    + Provides assistance and guidance to nursing staff in administering new procedures.

    + Enforce facility and nursing policies and procedure.

    + Counsels employees and initiates disciplinary action as necessary and communicates with department director/manager.

    + Communicates agency usage to Human Resources.

    + Maintains all pertinent information for agency staff including signing in and out for staff relief or private duty.

    + Assist with resolution of problems associate with staff or department operations.

    + Assist in obtaining staff coverage.

    + Float Staff to other units as necessary.

    + Rounds with Attending Physician/Fellow in the inpatient unit. (Weekends and holidays only)

    + Ensure borrowed equipment(s) are returned and replaced.

    + Ensure pertinent reports are completed.

    + Ensure patient/staff and visitor safety at all times.

    + Ensure that the National Patient Safety Goals are enforced and followed. Provide direct patient care as needed.

    + Perform nursing duties as outlined in the Senior Chemotherapy Nurse Job Description as appropriate.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Education:

    + Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing, BSN required

    Certification and Licensing:

    + Valid Florida Registered Nurse License, BLS, ACLS certifications required

    + Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Administration Guidelines provider course preferred

    + Oncology certification preferred

    Experience:

    + Minimum 3 years of recent nursing experience required

    + 5 years recent nursing and management experience preferred

    + Recent experience in administering chemotherapy and biotherapy agents
