    Position Summary:

    Ensures timely and efficient completion of detailed quality engineering project phases or major projects to achieve division quality objectives. Plans, schedules, and coordinates efforts of the quality engineering staff or acts as an individual researcher or functional expert on projects with significant customer and business impact.

    Responsibilities:

    Support the Supplier Quality, Supplier Development, Inspection & layout teams in:

    + Developing and executing inspection plans

    + Standardizing measurement techniques and creating revision controlled inspection plans/programs (ie. CMM)

    + Working with suppliers to align on drawing/measurement interpretations, eliminating ‘grey area’ where possible

    + Updating procedures to support internal and supplier measurement expectation

    + Assisting with and performing MSA’s

    + Traveling to suppliers to support assess measurement capabilities and/or support production needs

    + Develops project goals and objectives to complete complex or major quality engineering projects by reviewing quality performance trends, statistical plans, cost estimates, quality plans, and conferring with management. Ensures project meets schedule, cost results, and technical expectations through effective project leadership.

    + Determines quality engineering project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, assigning staffing and resources, and reviewing bids from outside contractors.

    + Determines quality engineering project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates. Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests.

    + Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements. Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.

    + Controls project plan by reviewing design specifications, and plan or schedule changes, and recommending actions to achieve quality and customer service objectives. Controls project costs by approving expenditures and administering contractor contracts.

    + Applies and leads continuous improvement and quality focused initiatives for critical areas of production.

    + Coordinates and/or conducts on-site quality surveys as requested by customers and various accrediting organizations (e.g. ISO9000). May plan and implement quality programs designed to improve supplier performance or productivity.

    + Interprets regulations, contracts, and company policy on areas applying to quality measures and standards. Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, ensuring adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.

    + Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses. Analyzes proposed changes in methods and materials for cost and quality impacts.

    + Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, reviewing publications, and/or participating in professional associations.

    + Acts as consultant to management on major matters. Establishes goals and objectives required to complete projects. Identifies mentoring needs. Trains and mentors less experienced employees. May provide leadership to others in department or to ad-hoc teams. May serve as functional expert.

    + Shares specialized knowledge with others. Represents company on specific projects. Interfaces with all agencies and customers as necessary to complete projects. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

    Requirements:

    + Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Metrology, Quality, or related technical field; Master's or advanced degree preferred.

    + 10+ years of experience in quality measurement, inspection, or metrology within the Aerospace Industry (AS9100)

    + Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 10-12 years of related experience.

    + Has thorough in-depth knowledge of engineering domain (e.g. mechanical, electronic, packaging, etc.), principles, industry practices, concepts, techniques, government regulations, and policies. Ability to apply broad knowledge of other related engineering or scientific fields to area of expertise.

    + Has strong technical skills with GD&T, Calibration and maintenance of precision measurement devices, Strong Problem-solving skills, Experience in procedure writing/management, Familiarity with CMM programming & Operation

    + Strong facilitation and team building skills. Ability to communicate with and influence varied audiences to gain support or resolve issues. Makes effective presentations on complex topics to top management, customers, and/or other key stakeholders.

    + Ability to communicate and coordinate amongst technical and hourly (union) team members

    + Ability to apply and integrate knowledge of other related engineering areas or experts to own area of expertise.

    + Proficient with software and specialized data analysis, design, and project management tools following established project/program management protocol.

    + Ability to manage multiple or major project deliverables and provide technical direction to the team, customers, or suppliers at project milestones.

    + Ability to respond to significant inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or other internal teams.

    + Proficient with standard project management tools and practices

    + Ability to apply Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to manage scope, schedule and cost objectives
