    Summary Statement

    Join the Boise Airport team as a skilled Electrician, responsible for installing, maintaining, and inspecting electrical systems that support safe and efficient airport operations. You’ll also train staff on electrical safety and help maintain a clean, hazard-free work environment. This position works a consistent schedule of four 10-hour shifts per week, giving you a three-day weekend every week.

    Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training

    + High school diploma or equivalent

    + 4 years of experience performing general electrical installations, maintenance and repairs in a commercial or public facility

    + or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

     

    Licensing And Other Requirements

     

    + Journey-level Electrician license issued by the State of Idaho.

    + Valid state-issued driver's license.

    + Ability to obtain an Airport Certified Employee (ACE) certification for airfield lighting within six months of hire date.

    + First Aid and CPR Certifications.

    Applicants must be able to pass:

    + City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation

    + Transportation Security Administration background check (SIDA)

    Essential Functions

    Performs highly complex and specialized tasks requiring considerable judgement, and independent analysis and decision making. Provides leadership, coaching and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.

     

    Performs journey-level electrical work on industrial and commercial machinery including troubleshooting; conducting repairs; and installing and maintaining electrical systems, including motor control cabinets, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, generator backup systems, motors, panels, switchgear and related electrical components throughout airport facilities and other airport properties.

     

    Assists the airfield lighting crew with airfield lighting systems when needed.Troubleshoots and repairs the main airfield lighting electrical system; performs regular maintenance, testing, and general upkeep of the airfield lighting generator system; and maintains accurate records.

     

    Examines equipment to determine whether it requires repair or replacement. Assists in material and equipment selection for supply and inventory levels. Creates, updates and archives electrical prints and schematics. Participates in weekly safety meetings and training classes.

     

    Leads and trains registered electrical apprentices on general assignments, proper electrical installations and safety procedures. Assists technicians and mechanics in maintaining airport equipment and other airport facilities.

    Requirements

    Additional Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training

     

    Knowledge of:; medium voltage (4,160 volts) electrical equipment and systems, uninterrupted power supplies and systems, fire alarm systems, HVAC control circuits, and large generator backup systems, electrical installation requirements and automatic emergency transfer switches; lock-out/tag-out safety procedures and relevant occupational hazards and standard safety precautions; appropriate use of programmable logic controllers; variable-frequency motor drives; National Electric Code, state and local requirements for the installation and maintenance of industrial-related electrical systems; and computer usage, including related software.

     

    Ability to:; test instruments such as multimeters, power monitors, ammeters, meggers and line tracers; act as a signing journey-level electrician for permits and inspections; fully utilize, read, update and create complex electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, prints, plans and drawings; accurately troubleshoot and repair complex motor controls and a large variety of critical electro-mechanical systems; repair and replace defective parts in motors, generators, pumps, relays, switch gears, controllers, motor control centers, power monitors, HVAC controls, emergency and alarm systems and other electrical equipment and components; carry out verbal and written instructions for assigned work and determine job requirements, repair sequence, parts acquisition and labor time estimates; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; and perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation.

     

    Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record.

     

    Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training

     

    Associate's degree.

     

    Idaho Master Electrician license and four years of industrial and commercial electrical experience, performing journey-level work installing, maintaining and conducting repairs on industrial and commercial electrical systems and troubleshooting problems within industrial and commercial electrical systems.

    While performing the duties of this job the employee is always lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds, occasionally lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds and rarely lifting/carrying up to 75 pounds. Also, the employee is always pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds, frequently pushing/pulling up to 35 pounds, occasionally pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds and rarely pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds. The noise level is always moderate, frequently loud and occasionally very loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear, smell and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk, runn, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, climb and balance. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.Additional physical efforts include: ability to climb ladders and operate lift equipment..

    Working Environment

    The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, in wet and humid conditions, areas of dust, odors, mist and gases or other airborne matter. Employees are exposed to mechanical and electrical hazards, work in/at heights and confined spaces. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position. Work includes protected exposure to infectious bacteria, bodily fluids and chemicals. work is performed on and near an airfield and around aircraft and related equipment.
