Job Overview:
Provide primary healthcare to the pediatric population (infancy through 21 years of age) in an advanced practice role through assessment, diagnosis, clinical judgment and management abilities to restore, maintain and improve the health status of patients. Meets all requirements on competency skills checklist. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.
+ APN will be involved in education, consultation, research, and evaluation of clinical practice at various levels.
+ Perform all duties in a manner developmentally appropriate to the ages of the patient population.
+ Follow established protocols to manage specific patient population. Perform diagnostic procedures and tests as required.
+ Works closely with Collaborating physician
Qualifications:
Required:
+ Master s degree in Nursing required with certification of NP/APN (FNP OR PNP)
+ Three to five years prior experience in related health care setting required
Certifications and Licenses Required:
+ Active New Jersey NP/APN (FNP or PNP)
+ License and National Certification in specialty
+ BLS required
Scheduling Requirements:
+ Flexible Part Time Schedule: 24hrs/week
Essential Functions:
+ Acts as clinical preceptor for graduate PNP student during fall semester. Acts as clinical preceptor for graduate NNP student in summer
+ Assists families with questions regarding billing and insurance requirements. Provides appropriate documentation to family to allow family to complete claims for medical visits
+ Assists with completion of budget variance reports monthly
+ Attends a minimum of three educational conferences per year
+ Attends grand rounds at least one per month
+ Completes all mandatory annual updates ie. Right to Know and Infection control, etc.
+ Completes new patient data on all admissions weekly as applicable
+ Develops plan of care for clients in coordination with multidisciplinary team and completes appropriate reports within 3 weeks
+ Ensure that reports of developmental screening are completed and sent out within 3 weeks
+ Ensures compliance with JCAHO, NJ DOH and OSHA standards
+ Monitor all No Show clients as applicable ; Notify families by phone or letter of missed appointment and request to reschedule and document weekly. Reviews reasons for No Shows quarterly
+ Obtains CPR annually for all staff
+ Operates program within budgetary guidelines; materials/equipment/consultant fees
+ Performs a complete history and physical exam with appropriate documentation within 7-10 days as applicable
+ Performs random chart review checklist per department requirements twice a year to ensure JCAHO requirements are met
+ Provides appropriate RN Licensure and PNP Certification documentation as required
+ Provides education for patients/family through written and verbal means
+ Provides hospital medical students/residents with in service on developmental screening six times per year
+ Returns telephone messages within 24 hours and documents instructions
+ Reviews all lab data and documents significant findings within 48 hours
+ With administrator, prepares, manages and monitors department (2173/2172/2171)operating budget as necessary
+ Adheres to universal behavioral competency standards
