*Spine-focused Neurosurgeon* *Department of Neurosurgery* *University of Maryland School of Medicine* *University of Maryland, Baltimore* * **The University of Maryland School of Medicine Department of Neurosurgery is seeking a highly qualified and motivated neurosurgeon to join our team as a comprehensive spine and peripheral nerve surgeon with core competencies in general neurosurgery.*The ideal candidate will serve as the Department’s Director of Neurosurgery at the Baltimore (VISN5) VA Medical Center*.*Candidates should hold the rank of Associate Professor or higher and will have extensive clinical experience in treating patients with degenerative, congenital, and traumatic spine and peripheral nerve conditions with interest in developing innovative treatment protocols across multi-disciplinary teams and environments. UM-Neurosurgery solves complex neurological problems to improve the condition and health of our patients. This core focus rests on a platform and within a culture where all members uniquely contribute and reach their full capacity for teamwork, impact, and fulfillment. *Our mission is supported by 4 Core Values:* /Patients first, together!/ /Always do the right thing./ /Leave it better than you found it./ /Drive to Discovery and Mastery./ *Responsibilities:* * /Specialized Expertise: The faculty candidate will have extensive clinical experience in treating patients with spine and neurotrauma conditions, conducting independent research, and developing innovative treatment protocols across multi-disciplinary teams and environments./ * /Clinical Research: A demonstrated, consistent record as a clinical investigator and publish work regularly/ * /Clinical Excellence: Align multi-disciplinary clinical practices with the latest evidence-based guidelines and therapies and lead initiatives for system wide and regional expansion through the University of Maryland Neuroscience, and Critical Care and Trauma Networks/ * /Educational Leadership: The faculty candidate will play a pivotal role in recruiting, training, and mentoring clinical and research faculty, medical students, residents, and fellows in disciplines related to the surgical management of neuro-injury./ * /Expand Multi-disciplinary Collaborations: Coordinate subspeciality VA programs in spine, peripheral nerve, and functional neurosurgery, as well as Neurotrauma teams to improve patient access. experience, and outcomes./ The expected rank for this position will be/Associate Professor/or/Professor/(non-tenure or tenure track) depending on experience and qualifications, and the ideal candidate will possess an MD or MD/PhD degree, be board-eligible/board-certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS), and have specialization and fellowship training in spine surgery.
