Job Title: Shift Supervisor
Shift: Night Shift (10 PM - 7 AM)
Position Summary: As a Shift Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing Machine Shop operations during your assigned shifts. You will ensure that all activities align with safety protocols, quality standards, and production schedules. This position requires strong leadership skills as you will lead a dedicated team of machinists and operators, coordinate workflow, and maintain optimal equipment performance to achieve production goals. Additionally, you will be expected to operate production machinery and perform basic CNC programming tasks as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of production staff, including machinists and operators.
+ Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies to foster a safe working environment.
+ Collaborate closely with Quality Assurance personnel to schedule inspections and resolve any quality-related issues.
+ Monitor production processes to uphold quality standards and meet scheduled production targets.
+ Conduct routine equipment inspections and coordinate necessary maintenance to minimize downtime.
+ Train and mentor new and existing employees on operational procedures and safety practices.
+ Manage shift schedules, time-off requests, and staffing to ensure adequate coverage at all times.
+ Address and resolve operational issues promptly to maintain workflow efficiency.
+ Maintain accurate production records and prepare shift changeover communications.
+ Collaborate with other shift supervisors and departments to ensure seamless operations across shifts.
Qualifications:
+ High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or technical certification is preferred.
+ Minimum of 8 years of experience in a job shop or manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
+ A minimum of 5 years of experience in 4-5 axis, high-spec work.
+ Experience in both Turning and Milling is a plus.
+ Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints, with a strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
+ Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, machinery operation, and safety protocols.
+ Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to work normal off-shift hours (10 PM - 7 AM).
+ Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Physical Requirements:
+ Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
+ Manual dexterity and visual acuity for operating machinery and inspecting products.
+ Willingness to work in an environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
