Position Summary:
The Engineering Technician supports Manufacturing by assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of product structure, breaking down and organizing simple to complex assemblies for the purposes of an accurate bill of material and routing structures. This role involves helping to troubleshoot production issues, relating to MRP demand or pegs as well as other facets of ERP systems integrity. This position supports new product launches through the collaboration of cross-functional teams to improve production accuracy. This role will serve as a liaison between Manufacturing Engineering and Manufacturing as required.
Essential Functions of the Job:
+ Leads the development and optimization of assembly process flow and build sequence to improve efficiency.
+ Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, conducting studies and workflow analysis to improve production performance.
+ Supports continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing process improvements.
+ Integrates new vehicle models and or variants into existing facilities partnering with product design, the operations teams, or other sectors of operations.
+ Ensures successful ramp up and long- term sustained production through responsibilities infrastructure in advance of new product launch.
+ Obtains information about manufacturing problems such as related engineering drawings using the information to develop and initiate a solution using sketches and/or red marked blueprints, within guidelines of the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) System.
+ Works in collaboration with the engineer responsible for the product, when necessary, to develop a solution to the problem.
+ Works in collaboration with engineering to decide upon the disposition of parts which are not usable due to design or manufacturing error, rework to correct errors, or necessity to scrape the parts.
+ Works with the Manufacturing Engineering team to determine and document the feasibility and cost of rework, scrap costs from cost records, and the effect of rework upon production schedules.
+ Helps to facilitate effective communication with cross-functional teams, including production, about forthcoming design changes and to coordinate relevant process changes needed as a result.
+ Challenges assumptions that are not backed up by a thorough engineering evaluation when necessary.
+ Prepare or direct preparation of Engineering documents, or changes to documents, which are necessary to implement solutions to Manufacturing problems. Such documents are sketches, drawings, schematics, and Bill of Materials.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):
+ Excellent mechanical aptitude is required.
+ Excellent blueprint reading skills which include the ability to read complex prints and the ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics.
+ A basic knowledge of hydraulic and mechanical equipment.
+ Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
+ Ability and willingness to take initiative.
+ Computer skills required (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, J.D. Edwards)
+ Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Excellent organizational skills.
+ Self-motivated with the ability to work with little or no supervision.
+ Ability to draw conclusions from troubleshooting abstract data.
+ Experience with interfacing with production and engineering personnel
+ A sense of urgency with the ability to meet timelines
+ Able to work extended hours to complete projects.
Education and Experience:
+ Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent
+ Associate degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
