Job Title: Embedded Software Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Embedded Software Engineer to analyze and enhance system safety requirements and architecture for steering and braking systems in agricultural machinery. Your role will involve working with existing software requirements and architecture documents, and creating software safety documentation based on reverse-engineered source code. You will identify and address gaps according to the ISO 26262:2018 standard, focusing on software traceability between requirements, design, code, and validation and verification.

Responsibilities

+ Analyze current system safety requirements and system architecture of steering and braking systems for agricultural machinery.

+ Evaluate current software requirements, software architecture documents, and C-based embedded source code.

+ Develop software safety requirements and architecture documentation from reverse-engineered source code.

+ Identify gaps needing attention as per the ISO 26262:2018 standard specific to software traceability between requirements, design, code, and V&V.

+ Propose software design improvements based on functional safety requirements and risk assessment.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

+ 5 years of industry expereince

+ Familiarity with section 6 of the ISO 26262 standard.

+ Hands-on experience in software design and development in C language for embedded systems in off-highway heavy machinery or automotive.

+ Experience in analyzing risk assessments, safety requirements, and system architecture.

+ Experience in creating software safety requirement specifications, architecture design documentation, and traceability concepts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience designing control software for distributed networks using CAN or Ethernet communication.

+ Knowledge of the ISO 26262 standard for agricultural machinery.

+ Certified Functional Safety Engineer certification.

Work Environment

This is a long-term role offering standard benefits, holidays, and paid time off. The preferred work location is the Iowa Facility, but candidates from similar time zones able to work CST core hours are also considered.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.
