The Electrical Designer will be responsible for supporting the design of panels and wiring systems for overhead systems. The role includes designing panels and electrical schematics using E-plan or AutoCAD, completing bill of material work, and performing electrical circuit load calculations.
Responsibilities
+ Develop, update, and modify electrical schematics and bills of material, including circuit load calculations for circuit breakers and fusing, VFD sizing, and electrical device selection.
+ Liaise with clients and other engineers, including mechanical engineers, to ensure projects meet specifications.
+ Assist with research and development efforts on current and future products and projects.
+ Understand Variable Frequency Drives and their ancillary devices, such as encoders, relays, and PLC I/O.
+ Work with shop assembly personnel to assist in the build process and provide solutions for issues during product testing.
+ Coordinate projects with Electrical Engineer, organizing and accomplishing goals and project assignments.
+ Develop electrical design of products using computer-aided design/drafting equipment and software.
+ Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance requirements.
+ Communicate with purchasing and vendors to obtain needed parts.
+ Review and release electrical engineering schematics, documentation, detailed instructions, and BOMs to production.
+ Conduct shop observations and respond to shop concerns related to electrical issues.
+ Maintain communication with Senior Electrical Engineer on shop and project issues.
+ Answer customer project and installation-related questions to resolve issues.
Essential Skills
+ Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering, EET, or a similar field.
+ 3+ years of experience with Electrical Drafting/Designing.
+ Experience in Controls Design, including panel design and panel layout.
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD or E-plan design software.
+ Strong communication and personal skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives.
+ Experience in crane or material handling industry.
+ Understanding of NEMA, NEC, CSA, UL, NFPA, and other engineering standards.
+ 5+ years of electrical design experience.
Work Environment
This position is 100% onsite with no remote work option. The team comprises an Electrical Engineer Lead, an Electrical Engineer, and two electrical designers. The company is experiencing rapid growth with expected sales nearly doubling from last year. They offer an excellent management team that invests in the development of their engineers.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $36.00/hr.
