Job Description:
**65% Research** – Conduct research as needed to meet the project objectives.
**25% Reporting** - Prepare and present updates on ongoing research, provide written reports on research progress, participate in group meetings, give presentations at scientific conferences, and prepare manuscripts for publication.
**10% Mentorship-** Assist with supervision of graduate and undergraduate students as needed. Provide leadership to students and train them in proper procedures for all instruments and safety regulations in the laboratory setting.

Required Qualifications:
1. Ph.D. in electrochemistry or chemical/electrochemical engineering.
2. Previous experience with metal salt electrolytes used in redox flow batteries, as evidenced by application materials.
3. Previous experience with electrochemical analytical techniques such as CV, LS, Chronoamperometry, Chronopotentiometry, and EIS, as evidenced by application materials.
4. Publications or other evidence of scholarly achievement in these areas, as evidenced by application materials.
**NOTE** : To be appointed at the Postdoctoral Researcher title, it is necessary to have a PhD in hand. Appointments made without a diploma or certified transcript indicating an earned doctorate are conditional hires and are appointed on an interim basis, not to exceed 3 months.

2. Previous experience with electrochemical characterization of electrolytes and flow batteries, including cell component fabrication, assembly, and testing, as evidenced by application materials.
3. Previous experience with modeling of electrochemical systems, as evidenced by application materials.
Position Overview:
Professor Trung Van Nguyen, the PI of the Electrochemical Engineering Research Group at the University of Kansas, is seeking to hire a postdoctoral researcher for a collaborative experimental and computational project with the University of Michigan that studies the chemical and electrochemical properties of supersaturated metal salt electrolytes for high-energy-density redox flow battery application.
The PI seeks individuals who are motivated and have research experience and knowledge of electrochemistry, electrochemical analytical techniques (such as CV, LS, Chronoamperometry, Chronopotentiometry, EIS, etc.), and flow batteries. Preference will be given to researchers with extensive experience in vanadium and iron salt electrolytes used in vanadium and iron redox flow batteries.
This is a 1-yr appointment with the possibility of reappointment based on performance and funding availability.
The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S by the effective date of the appointment.
