Job Description
The Warranty Quality Engineer is responsible for managing the warranty part return process from the Customer warranty center. This role involves presenting warranty teardown analysis weekly, conducting cause investigations, and ensuring cross-functional actions are quickly implemented to eliminate issues. You will collaborate with the manufacturing and accounting departments to evaluate and reduce warranty debits by OEMs, negotiate warranty recovery efforts, and use data to minimize warranty bills. Regular updates to Customers on warranty improvements and ensuring manufacturing facilities meet clear timelines for action item implementation are vital. Preparing and distributing detailed reports and tracking continuous improvement through measurable graphs are essential aspects of this role.
Responsibilities
+ Manage warranty part return process from Customer warranty center.
+ Present warranty teardown analysis on a weekly basis.
+ Investigate the cause of warranty issues through part returns.
+ Collaborate with manufacturing and accounting departments to reduce warranty debits.
+ Negotiate warranty recovery efforts and disputes.
+ Use data to reduce share percentages in warranty bills.
+ Provide continuous updates to Customers on warranty improvement status.
+ Ensure manufacturing facilities meet timelines for action item implementation.
+ Prepare and distribute Daily/Weekly/Monthly reports to management.
+ Track continuous improvement through measurable reports and graphs.
Essential Skills
+ Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
+ Experience with problem-solving tools such as SPC, GD&T, and 8D.
+ Previous working experience in automotive warranty systems.
+ Mechanical aptitude.
+ Experience in automotive quality.
+ Ability to read and understand mechanical schematics and blueprints.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 1-3 years of manufacturing-related experience preferred.
+ Experience in Warranty analysis with emphasis on Toyota Supplier Warranty Cost Share process, Ford Customer Portal and Warranty Management Systems, GM Customer Portal and Warranty Management system.
+ Willingness to travel to support customer needs, up to 30%.
+ Ability to self-prioritize and work efficiently both alone and in groups.
+ Certification in formal problem-solving methodologies is preferred.
Work Environment
The work environment includes a 1st shift from 7:45 AM to 5 PM in a dirty, automotive setting. The facility is not temperature-controlled, and work involves an office environment with exposure to manufacturing areas. Occasional lifting or moving up to 50 pounds may be required. Travel, both domestic and international, may be needed up to 30%, based on customer needs. Expect a balance of 60% on the floor vs. 40% at the desk.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $40.86/hr.
