Description
The Lee County Library System, a dynamic and forward-thinking organization, is seeking enthusiastic, customer service-oriented candidates to join the team at either the North Fort Myers Public Library or the Bonita Springs Public Library.
As a Library Assistant, you’ll play an important role in delivering high-quality customer service and supporting daily circulation operations. This position involves technical and clerical responsibilities in a fast-paced public service environment.

About the Libraries:
North Fort Myers Public Library
Rebuilt in August 2019, the North Fort Myers Library is a spacious 25,000-square-foot facility that serves North Fort Myers and nearby communities. It shares a campus with the North Fort Myers Recreation Center and is located near the communities of Suncoast Estates, Paloma Park, and several active living neighborhoods.
Bonita Springs Public Library
Located in the heart of Bonita Springs’ Historic District, this welcoming library serves a diverse community of all ages. The library is surrounded by local landmarks such as Riverside Park, the Bonita Springs Historical Society, and the Everglades Wonder Gardens.
Duties and Responsibilities
We’re looking for a customer-focused, detail-oriented individual to assist with the day-to-day operations of the library. You’ll work with the public, support circulation services, and help ensure the library runs smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Provide friendly, helpful customer service at the circulation desk
+ Issue new library cards and check materials in and out
+ Maintain and update patron records
+ Generate circulation reports
+ Help patrons locate materials and answer basic questions
+ Shelve books and materials in correct alphabetical and numerical order
+ Operate library equipment such as computers, self-check stations, copiers, and cash registers
+ Inspect the condition of returned items
+ Order and organize supplies and brochures
+ Collect fines and fees; prepare deposits
+ Locate and process reserved items for patron pickup
Education, Experience, Licensing
Required:
+ Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma or GED
+ At least one year of fast-paced, professional customer service experience or a closely related role
Preferred:
+ Two years of post-high school education
+ Two or more years of customer service experience
+ Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
+ Bilingual (Spanish)
+ Strong communication and teamwork skills
+ A commitment to delivering excellent customer experiences
