    Only current permanent employees of LDR will be considered for this promotional vacancy.

     

    This position insures compliance with the Federal Bankruptcy Code and Rules, and State Tax Laws in reference to accounts in bankruptcy, state liquidations and receiverships for all taxes administered by the Department of Revenue. It will process bankruptcy notifications, prepare proofs of claim, audit disclosure statements, plans reorganization of viability, and establish payment plans.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Six semester hours in accounting, business, economics, finance, management, information systems management, or quantitative methods plus one of the following:

    Three years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; OR

    Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR

    A bachelor's degree.

    EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

    Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

    Job Duties and Other Information

    Job Duties:

    EXAMPLES BELOW ARE A BRIEF SAMPLE OF COMMON DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS JOB TITLE. NOT ALL POSSIBLE TASKS ARE INCLUDED.

     

    Audits filed tax returns and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with applicable State laws, based on the specific tax being audited.

     

    Calculates penalty and interest as necessary, and makes appropriate adjustments to taxpayers' accounts.

     

    Reviews applications for credits, exemptions, lower tax rates, and/or penalty waivers; determines eligibility and issues authorizations for such.

     

    Issues bills, warrants, and/or liens in order to collect taxes owed; releases such measures once taxes are collected.

     

    Confirms refund amounts, processes and issues refunds through computer tax system.

     

    Research and resolves discrepancies regarding such issues as incorrect taxpayer address, bank errors, returned refunds, etc; reissues refund checks as needed.

    This position may be filled as a:
