Business Overview
Global Mortgages & Securitized Products is engaged in client focused Trading, Origination, Lending, and Sales activities across a broad range of mortgage and asset backed products, including:
+ Asset-Backed (autos, credit cards, student loans, trade receivables, etc)
+ Commercial Real Estate
+ Residential Mortgages
+ Mortgage and Asset-Backed Finance and Advisory Business
Our global businesses are actively involved in lending, hedging, issuing and trading loans and securities. We work aggressively to tailor solutions and provide liquidity for our customers. Specific product areas include: Agency Pass Through securities, Collateralized Mortgage Obligations (CMOs), Agency ARMS, Non-Agency RMBS and Whole Loans, Consumer ABS, Index, Mortgage Finance, Reverse Mortgages, and Commercial Real Estate. Many of the above activities are transacted utilizing both cash and derivatives used as either trading or financing instruments.
Sales Overview
+ Global Structured Products Sales is responsible for the development, growth and on-going servicing of client relationships
+ Strong analytical and inter-personal skills are crucial in a salespersons ability to deliver the full capabilities of BAML Global Investment Banking to clients
+ Relationship management, understanding and aligning client goals with BAML businesses opportunities
+ Providing solutions and anticipating trading activity within a fast paced, highly competitive and constantly changing work environment
+ Be knowledgeable in all product areas: CMBS, Non-Agency RMBS, Agency RMBS, ABS & esoteric sectors
+ Develop personal relationships with BAML’s clients across their product expertise spectrum
+ Foster mutually beneficial relationships/partnerships with strategic personnel between clients, department colleagues & the firm as a whole.
+ Disarm & amend stressful situations/problems between stake holders.
+ Be able to anticipate & react to market situations given firm risk position & client goals in a timely manner
Roles and Responsibilities
+ The mortgage and asset backed markets have undergone significant changes over the past few years. There is now an increasing investor demand for securitized products and there are many growth opportunities across these businesses and markets.
+ The associate will be exposed to the daily business flow and market activity and will have one on one interaction with origination, trading, structuring, analytics, and sales personnel. Interns will be expected to provide meaningful contributions to the desk over the course of their rotation. This will include analysis of current trades/structures, assisting in the marketing of products through salesperson interaction, and culminates in a final sales-pitch presentation for a pre-selected offering made to our entire sales/trading team.
+ Securitized products are analytical by nature. Successful bankers, traders, and sales people are very proficient at understanding both the collateral that back these deals as well as the deal structures. Strong analytical skills are necessary to value, trade, and structure these deals and strong communication skills are necessary to explain these deals to clients.
