Major/Essential Functions:
The media relations coordinator will be tasked with the written and digital storytelling for the College of Arts & Sciences. The individual will produce engaging and timely content to help champion and promote the college to expand its brand and strategic goals. This will be done across multiple channels including social media, website and email. This position will require someone who is a quick learner and has the motivation to accomplish many tasks on their own.
+ Produce stories to be used across multiple platforms, including social media, website, news releases, marketing materials, etc. to promote A&S.
+ Take the lead on social media management, including posting, responding to messages, monitoring trends, managing a social posting calendar, etc.
+ Write and edit news stories for the college and its departments.
+ Create mass emails, including newsletters, event information, campaigns, etc.
+ Work collaboratively with the A&S senior designer to produce cohesive and visually appealing graphics.
+ Work collaboratively with the A&S assistant director to make updates to the college and its departmental webpages.
+ Take photographs – typically via mobile phone – at college-sponsored events to post on social media stories and feeds.
+ Support the marketing and communications with other projects, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
+ A bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, marketing or a related field.
+ Passion for social media and a strong grasp on trends within it.
+ Strong written skills.
+ Knowledge of AP Style.
+ Problem solver who works well under pressure.
+ Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud.
+ Experience with email marketing and platforms such as MailChimp.
+ Knowledge of the history and traditions of Texas Tech University.
