JOB SUMMARY
Works under the direct supervision of a Registered Radiologic Technologist. The Medical Imaging Assistant performs a wide variety of routine
duties including clerical, technical, and patient related functions. The Medical Imaging Assistant is responsible for assisting members of the
patient care team and providing a broad range of healthcare services such as: patient check-in, exam review, preparation for the visit, patient
education, assistance with exams and procedures, and patient transporting.
The Medical Imaging Assistant is trained to use a wide variety of radiographic equipment, computers, and software. The Medical Imaging Assistant may be assigned to work and assist in multiple Medical Imaging modalities and/or clinical services per operational needs. They must be able to resolve conflict and endure the pressure associated with a constantly changing work environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (JOB DUTIES)
+ Imaging responsibilities: The Medical Imaging Assistant is competent in assisting with imaging exams. They assist with diagnosticexams, patient care, transporting patients, performing clerical duties, and maintaining safe and high-quality services.
+ Contacts hospital and outside sources regarding lab results, x-ray results and ER reports; contacts nursing homes regarding patient orders; validates physician orders. Contacts patients to confirm appointment informs patient of proper attire to wear to exam; screenspatients appropriately (e.g. MRI Safety Screeners); prior to administering a commercially prepared oral contrast product, allergyverification is performed, and questions are directed to a CT tech.
+ Returns patients phone calls with the provider’s recommendations for their care. Able to communicate in a timely manner with appropriate departments regarding high priority case interpretations (e.g. Hold and Call for STAT and Routine orders). Completes RAV documentation when calling reports. Actively communicates with Medical Imaging personnel regarding patient handoffs, provide supporting documentation (via paper or electronic notification), and able to respond promptly to the EMR status board changes (e.g. patient registered and ready for exam).
+ Updates patient and family about exam progress and waiting time. Correctly performs order entry, editing and scheduling in theelectronic medical record (“EMR”) as required. Scans order to PACS for the radiologists and scans newly obtained/corrected ordersto Media Manager. Performs routine EMR functionality procedures, including arriving patients in EMR.
+ Performs necessary steps to obtain valid written orders when not available. Demonstrates ability and proficiency in effectively trouble-shooting equipment operation, including -- but not limited to computer, monitor, printer, and scanner. Performs burning of CD’s while ensuring proper patient information is affixed. Demonstrates the ability and discernment in monitoring various quality indicators, including utilizing EMR status reports s for completed and preliminary reports.
+ Monitors the completion, dictation, transcription and preliminary/final status of all STAT and routine exams and alerts the proper source(s) when these are not in alignment with designated reporting processes. Practices Radiation Safety and MRI safety.
+ Patient Safety: Care for Isolation patient and practice universal precautions. Awareness and Communication to others of fall risks.Obtains and verifies completion of Ticket to Ride for each transport. Responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of the assignedwork area ensuring area remains in a constant state of readiness.
