UPMC Hamot is hiring a Sr. Professional Staff Nurse to join the Cardiac Cath Lab!
This position is full-time, Monday- Friday 7am-3:30pm or 8am-4:30pm. Occasional on-call coverage required for weekends, evenings, and holidays.

**Purpose:** The Senior Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse who leads patient care delivery by setting high standards for quality and accountability. This role involves managing care for patients and families using independent judgment and collaboration with the healthcare team. It emphasizes leadership, teamwork, and communication, while fostering strong relationships with physicians and other providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The nurse also demonstrates a commitment to both the community and the nursing profession.
Responsibilities:
+ Identifies and acts on opportunities to improve clinical quality and workplace conditions. Regularly applies evidence-based practice and leads or participates in care innovation teams.
+ Serves as a role model and recognized leader in clinical expertise, teaching, or evidence-based practice. Provides constructive feedback and engages in nursing peer review.
+ Promotes positive change in patient care and unit environment through team leadership. Demonstrates advanced clinical assessment and analytical skills within Relationship-Based Care.
+ Actively participates in shared governance and hospital-wide councils. Passionately mentors students, new nurses, and peers; identifies learning opportunities.
+ Seeks and applies feedback for continuous professional growth. Encourages ongoing learning through sharing research and supporting educational activities.
+ Uses the nursing process to create holistic, patient-centered care plans. Communicates effectively with care teams and advocates for patient care improvements.
+ Maintains thorough documentation to support care continuity. Applies critical thinking to address clinical, social, and emotional patient needs.
+ Aligns daily work with organizational goals to enhance patient safety and satisfaction. Builds compassionate, healing relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
+ Fosters a healthy workplace culture and addresses issues like horizontal violence. Balances work and personal life through effective prioritization and delegation.
+ Demonstrates age-specific care knowledge and skills across the lifespan. Assesses and interprets patient data to meet age-appropriate care needs.
+ Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required. BSN preferred;
+ Must achieve and maintain a Solid/Strong/Good or higher on annual performance evaluations. Builds and maintains positive, caring relationships with all levels of staff and patients/families.
+ Effectively manages multiple priorities and complex environments. Demonstrates exemplary clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
+ Capable of leading others in applying the nursing process. Requires physical stamina and manual dexterity for patient care tasks.
+ Must complete an approved professional contribution annually or obtain/maintain UPMC-approved certification within 1 year of hire/transfer. Certification not required if holding a Master’s in nursing or DNP; a Master’s in a related field may substitute if BSN is held. Master’s in nursing or related field may substitute for certification.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
+ Registered Nurse (RN)
+ UPMC approved nursing certification preferred.
*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
