Position Summary:The Other Licensed Practitioner (OLP) serves a vital role within the CFTSS framework, providing community-based and specialized clinical services to youth aged 5–21 and their families .This position encompasses comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and the formulation and implementation of treatment plans. It involves both individual and family therapy as indicated, tailored to the specific needs and circumstances of each child and adolescent.
Essential Accountabilities:
+ Experience in Childhood Psychiatric Disorders:The OLP must have a foundational understanding of emotional and behavioral childhood mental health disorders - including their development, clinical presentation, pathology, trajectory, trauma impacts, risks, and impact on their social and occupational functioning.
+ Treatment Modalities:Proficiency in common and evidence-based treatment modalities for childhood mental health disorders is required. The practitioner should demonstrate not only experience in these modalities but also an openness to continual learning and skill enhancement through professional training.
+ System of Care Knowledge:A foundational understanding of the children’s mental health system of care.
+ Assessment and Treatment Planning:Conduct initial and ongoing assessments to determine diagnosis, identify strengths and needs, and develop detailed treatment plans that are tailored to the youth’s and family’s specific circumstances.
+ Therapeutic Interventions:Provide effective ongoing individual and family therapy using age-appropriate, preferably evidence-based, therapeutic interventions.
+ Home Integration Strategies:Implement strategies that foster cognitive, behavioral, and emotional self-regulation within the home, school and community environment as outlined in treatment and service plans.
+ Crisis Management:Develop and reinforce individualized safety and alert plans, offer crisis prevention and post-crisis debriefing, and address family dynamics to prevent future crises.
+ Family and Community Engagement:Work closely with the child’s family and natural supports to reinforce treatment goals and foster a supportive environment.
+ Educational and Skill Development:Provide psychosocial education, parenting skills training, and child/family relationship building strategies.
+ Cultural Sensitivity:Show sensitivity to cultural norms, recognize strengths in various cultural practices related to parenting and discipline, and maintain a non-judgmental approach towards diverse backgrounds.
+ Compliance and Documentation:Ensure strict compliance with all relevant regulations and maintain accurate records in the Electronic Health Record (Avatar).
+ Collaboration and Communication:Maintain collaborative relationships with other stakeholders and attend CFTSS team meetings and training sessions to enhance professional skills.
+ Supervision and Professional Development:Actively participate in individual supervision to address any concerns and to foster professional growth.
+ Policy Adherence:Follow all organizational policies related to human resources, time management, and other operational areas.
Qualifications
Qualifications:The candidate must be a Licensed Mental Health Professional (LCSW, LMSW, LMHC or equivalent) with at least one year of experience working with children diagnosed with Serious Emotional Disturbances (SED) and their families. A valid and clean New York State driver's license is required along with reliable and insured transportation .
Physical and Work Environment Demands:The role requires occasional physical activities including standing, walking, handling objects, and reaching. The employee must be capable of lifting up to 25 pounds. Work is primarily indoors and not subject to adverse weather conditions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
