The role you’ll contribute:
The OR Flow Coordinator is responsible for assisting with scheduling duties, coordination of the daily schedule and operation of surgery responding to all incoming phone calls. He/she is responsible for the assisting with the scheduling process, maintaining and manipulating informatics clinical resource for all surgical department statistical data, and patient change input. Acts as a clinical resource and role model. He/she performs Performance Improvement duties as needed and participates in conduction performance appraisals for personnel on assigned shifts.

Accepts and adheres to regulations, guidelines and standards established by local, state and federal agencies, including accreditation organizations.
Acts as a resource person for staff, physicians and management.
Answers telephone expediently and politely.
Assist the ANM/Nurse Manager when needed.
Assists with the orientation of new employees, works in conjunction with the Staff Educator.
Assures appropriate traffic control at the surgery control desk, works in conjunction with the Anesthesia Staff. (Operating Room)
Assures that all needed supplies and equipment are available in a timely manner.
Collaborates with Anesthesia & Schedulers to schedule surgery times consistent with history of procedure and surgeon. (Operating Room)
Collects, communicates, and documents surgery data, and disseminates information to nurse manager, director, AVP and ancillary departments (if indicated).
Communicates any perceived concerns, add-ons, delays etc. on the surgery schedule to the Nurse Managers. (Operating Room)
Communicates concerns of staff and physicians to ANM/Nurse Manager.
Communicates with Nurse Managers when equipment and supplies are needed for a procedure.
Demonstrates commitment to the philosophy, mission and goals of the organization and department.
Demonstrates understanding and adheres to hospital and department policies and procedures.
Facilitates efficiency of room turnovers and case placements. (Operating Room)
Functions effectively in stressful situations and prioritizes efficiently and effectively.
Improvises when necessary without compromising personal or departmental standards.
Maintains and develops positive relationships with physicians and physician offices with appropriate communication.
Notifies biomed/engineering of equipment failures, checks repair needs, etc.
Participates as part of the multidisciplinary team as directed.
Protects and assures patient privacy and confidentiality regarding surgery schedule, changes, records etc.
Provides positive, respectful communication to employees, physicians, anesthesia providers, ancillary departments, visitors and patients.
Reorganizes potential safety hazards, intervenes for the safety of patients, visitors, and personnel.
Supervises surgical case scheduling for accuracy. (Operating Room)
Utilizes appropriate channels of communication when initiating changes, reporting information or addressing concerns.
Other duties as assigned.
