    Job Summary

    Title: Director of Accounting

     

    Reports To: VP of Finance

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Festival Foods is seeking a transformative, forward-thinking Director of Accounting to oversee the accounting functions for a multi-entity structure, which includes Festival Foods, HGI, and the holding company. This role is ideal for a strategic yet hands-on leader who thrives in complex, evolving environments and brings a strong foundation in GAAP, systems transformation, and team leadership.

     

    The Director will play a pivotal role in modernizing accounting systems, elevating internal controls, and fostering scalable processes to support long-term growth. This individual must be comfortable operating with a high degree of discretion, managing change, and building trust across business units and leadership teams.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Strategic Leadership & Transformation

     

    + Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes, reporting, and systems to support scalability and operational excellence across multiple legal entities.

    + Identify and implement process enhancements that increase efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and support strategic business initiatives.

    + Serve as a key partner in evolving the accounting organization to meet the needs of a growing, complex business structure.

     

    Controllership & Technical Expertise

     

    + Direct the daily operations of the accounting function, including general ledger, fixed assets, payroll accounting, and inventory.

    + Provide leadership and oversight to the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Treasury functions through collaboration with the respective manager.

    + Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

    + Maintain and enhance accounting policies and procedures; ensure their consistent application across the organization.

    + Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve complex accounting issues and support strategic initiatives with sound financial analysis.

     

    Leadership & Team Development

     

    + Provide mentorship, coaching, and performance management to the accounting team, with a focus on developing future leaders and creating a high-performance culture.

    + Promote accountability, continuous improvement, and proactive problem-solving within the team.

    + Partner with finance, operations, HR, and IT leaders to build alignment and support across departments.

    + Regular, timely attendance in compliance with work schedule.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    + Technically strong: Expert knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls, with a track record of clean audits and well-run close cycles.

    + System savvy: Experienced in selecting and implementing modern accounting systems; capable of managing enterprise-wide transitions.

    + Builder mindset: Drawn to organizations in transition where processes, systems, and roles are being defined, refined, and elevated.

    + Trusted partner: Communicates effectively with all levels of the organization; earns respect through sound judgment, confidentiality, and clarity.

    + Education:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.

    + Experience:8+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 4 years in a leadership role.

    + Demonstrated success leading accounting transformations or system implementations.

    + Strong project management skills and comfort working with ambiguity and evolving priorities.

    + Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

    + Ability to lead with influence, build trust, and manage sensitive information with discretion.

    + High ethical standards and professional integrity.
