Description
At United, we have some of the best aircraft in the world. Our Technical Operations team is full of aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities professionals, and supply chain teams that help make sure they’re well taken care of and ready to get our customers to their desired destinations. Key Responsibilities:
+ Adhere to all safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.
+ Maintain accurate records of materials used, work performed, and time spent on each project.
+ Perform advance TIG (GTAW) welding techniques on aircraft engine and airframe parts and components, including interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine welding requirements. Prepare materials by cleaning, cutting, and grinding metals to ensure proper fit and alignment, including fixture design and fabrication.
+ Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards. Operate and maintain welding equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition.
+ Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and other team members to troubleshoot issues and recommend improvements.
Technicians must be flexible to work around the clock shifts, including weekends and holidays, in the outdoors in all weather conditions. Schedules are bid and awarded according to seniority.
Technicians are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT). Salary increases will be administered according to the current IBT/United contract. Shift differentials of $.51 and $.58 cents per hour for working an afternoon or evening shift respectively are paid in addition to the hourly rate. New employees are required to join the union within ninety (90) days of employment. There is an initiation fee for joining the union and subsequent monthly union dues.
Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
+ Proficiency in operating welding, machinery, tools, and related equipment.
+ Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints, schematics, and shop drawings.
+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
+ Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
+ Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
+ Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
+ Physical stamina and ability to work in varying conditions (e.g. heat, confined spaces, heights).
+ 2 years of experience TIG (GTAW) welding.
The starting rate for this role is $41.48.
This is also a bonus eligible position (i.e. profit sharing).
