The **Community Liaison** functions as part of the Community Programs team, under the umbrella of the Office of Medical Education, to support all of the community immersion components of the Human Dimension (HD) Course (https://www.hmsom.edu/en/education/curriculum/human-dimension-overview#:~:text=In%20the%20Human%20Dimension%2C%20pairs,social%2C%20behavioral%2C%20and%20medical.) , namely the Human Dimension Voices Program (HDVP). In this program, pairs of medical students are matched with individuals and families in the community and will partner with those individuals and communities over time throughout the core curriculum of their medical education. The role will be a network builder, making connections between community residents, supporting advocacy efforts, and providing feedback on the implementation of the HD course's community immersion efforts. The role will serve as a continuity point of contact for community members. The role will also be integral in the analysis of community health needs, developing ongoing relationships with the community, and interfacing with faculty, course directors, students, and community agencies.
This position is based out of our campus in Nutley, NJ. This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days on site per week. Additionally, this role requires travel across communities in northern NJ.
The standard work schedule for this role is 9:00 am - 4:45 pm, but there are occaisional shifts that may start as early as 8:00 am, based on needs for the academic program. Notice will be given for days where flexibility is needed.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
+ Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Work or a related field or a minimum of 4 years of related experience with a High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
+ Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
+ Analytical and evaluation skills.
+ Ability to assess an environment for safety from both a physical and emotional standpoint.
+ Strong interpersonal skills.
+ Experience working with community based organizations.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
+ Bachelor's degree.
+ Google Suite skills essential.
+ Bilingual in Spanish.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
+ Valid Driver's License from a USA state

Starting at $48,896.64 Annually
